Owner description: The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center offers living history demonstrations, interpretive programs, exhibits, multi-media presentations, special events, and more than four miles of interpretive trails. We offer a variety of interpretive programs and special exhibits year-round. One mile of well-preserved ruts lie on the Interpretive Center grounds, and are accessible by the trails or from a turnout on Highway 86 about a half-mile west of the Center's entrance.

Well worth the visit to learn about the history of how Oregon was settled. The museum has interesting exhibits displaying all the work and struggle the settlers had to go through. What it doesn't have are the docents, but perhaps we came at the wrong time (the place was quite deserted).

We didn't plan enough time for this really well done museum. It follows a timeline and its well worth pacing yourself and experiencing the interpretive exhibits. Lots to read and observe. Not to be missed.

Visiting family who live in Baker City. This is our second time to the center. We had more time to go thru slowly and read everything this time. If you are a history buff, you will enjoy this. If you don't care to read about history, then you won't care for it.

Take time to sit outside and look over the beautiful landscape. (On one side, Gold mining is still going on, and you can hear the blasting). The remoteness of the Center really lets you have a feeling of the territory. Enjoy the outdoors, but also see the movie.

Great experience. We have family that came over the trail and it is great to connect. The view from that hill is incredible.
