“Great place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2005

My wife and I stayed here for four days while on a site seeing tour of NE Oklahoma, and we both agreed that this is one of the nicest FRIENDLIEST places you will EVER stay. They go out of their way to make you comfortable and appreciated. The pool is excellent and they also have a great heated spa. (with extra towels in the pool room for you). The breakfast is great and such a friendly staff. The room was always cleaned and the motel looks new. Great shower heads and big tubs. I would sugest that you even go out of you way to stay here... you won't be disappointed! ... oh.. and btw.. there is a Walmart Supercenter within walking distance without having to cross any streets or roads. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Vinita, Oklahoma, over Easter. I would highly recommend this hotel to all--great staff, nice facility, well maintained, nice amenities--and all at a very good price.

I booked the reservation online and confirmed the reservation with a credit card. We arrived late that night. The hotel is easy to find off of the toll ramp--drive to the light, turn left, and it's right there next to a Walmart Supercenter. The hotel looks like new from outside--nice neat grounds, clean parking lot, all lights working, and so forth. The front desk clerk was a very nice woman who chatted with us while checking us in. Check in only took maybe two minutes tops. The clerk verified that the reservation was under my priority club membership without me even asking--a first at a Holiday Inn in four years! The lot is well lit, which makes you more comfortable unloading the car at night with a one-year-old in tow.

The room was very nice, and everything was spotlessly clean--even the phone receivers. The HVAC unit worked well. The room was very quiet. Unusually, the first floor rooms have very high ceilings--gives you an impression of a v-e-r-y large room. The bathroom has a normal height ceiling, so you don't feel drafts in the shower. The bathroom was very clean and a nice size. Water pressure was excellent and hot water proved plentiful. This hotel has implemented the "Simply Smart" bath system with the nice, thick towels; supersized Kohler showerhead; and bowed shower rod to permit more room in the bath.

A short hall transitions from the bathroom to the living room area. On the right side of this hall, there is a nice mini-kitchen counter. This mini-kitchen includes a tall mini-refrigerator, a microwave, a sink, a coffeemaker with a stainless steel pot, and some basic things up in the cupboards--can/bottle opener, disposable cutlery, disposable cups, plates, and bowls.

The living room area contains a sofa with coffeetable and endtable with a floor lamp and matching table lamp on the endtable. Across from the sofa, there is a large square table with two upholstered wood chairs and a multi-featured telephone with internet access and another floor lamp in the corner. A half wall divides the living room from the bedroom area.

The bedroom area contained a credenza with a television (you could also see the television from the living room area if you wanted). The large king bed was very comfortable and the cover was fitted to keep the spread from lopping onto the floor. There were two more lights above the nightstands, and another table lamp on the medium-sized rectangular desk (that makes six lights total, let alone the overhead hall and bathroom lights--the place can be literally ablaze with lights if you turn on all of them!). The desk chair was more like an actual business desk chair--swivel, adjustable, casters, full back. Another multi-featured telephone was by the bed. The only thing I would see amiss for my business needs is why one of the multi-featured telephones isn't on the desk with the business chair, but the table in the living room area is very large and would work fine for your laptop and cables.

The night manager was very friendly when we went out for a late evening stroll. He chatted with us for a while. When a customer approached the doors, he immediately took care of them. They had made the reservation by phone less than an hour before on a holiday, but the night manager was friendly, polite, and took it all in stride. The breakfast attendant was a young woman who was extremely attentive, very neat, and friendly. The breakfast area was clean. The maids were friendly, as was the front desk clerk at check out. Everyone I met was very friendly, professional, and neatly dressed. They made you feel very welcome. Kudos to the managers and crew--it's rare to find a whole crew of likeable, friendly, professional people in one place.

The hotel also features a heated pool and whirlpool, a workout room, and a nice sized elevator. If you travel with someone disabled or small children or just too much luggage, the elevator would be very handy for anyone on the upper floors. The lobby is set up with some comfy sofas, free newspapers, and a television in the breakfast area. Windows let in plenty of natural light during the day. Oklahoma guidebooks and free maps were neatly arrayed on console tables near the elevator and at the desk.

On my next trip through this area, I will stay at this Holiday Inn Express again, whether business or fun trip. The rate was very good--only $71 for the king suite. I would recommend this hotel to anyone--singles, families, young, old, business, or leisure.

I have stayed at this hotel on business approximately 1 or 2 nights per month for the last couple of years with 95% of my experience favorable.
This last visit this week was very disturbing with a very unprofessional night clerk who possesed a very cocky and arrogant attitude. I basically informed him this would probably be my last stay as there are other very nice hotels in the area and I don't need his attitude at the end of the day. He just turned my stay into sour grapes and lost a customer in the process. Nice hotel, bad apple.

They gave me a great rate for our room by e-mailing the hotel directly.
The hotel was clean, they were super nice and the continental breakfast (which I am used to a cup of coffee and a donut) was WONDERFUL!! The pool was clean and they always had towels by the pool (which is a plus). I would recommend this hotel VERY HIGHLY!

We went to the Chateau de la Chevre in Vinita, great place to stay if you are lookng for a Hotel to take your kids! This one was clean, the Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Unlike the one in Tulsa , which was fairly nice but lacking in many areas. Kids loved the pool , and I loved the hot tub located next to the pool . A new Walmart is right next to the Hotel too. Though Vinita is a older town, their Pizza Hut pizza was the best I have ever eaten and they have a great Mexican restaurant downtown. We experienced friendly locals and a great Hotel. I'd stay again!
