“Nice, But know what your getting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2012

Spent one Saturday night on a Groupon special, Wasn't sure what to expect. Here's the bad. Condo style cabins, heard movement and pans clinging most of the evening, and they were quite. The cabin is older built in the 50's.If you are wanting to swim or fish you would have to drive off. It was January and we found that most of the attractions and finer restaurants were closed for the off season. The master bedroom has a full size bed and the second bedroom has two twins bed. The couch is a hide-a-bed. Hot water in the kitchen sink was limited.

The Good, The cabin was clean, The Vizio TV & Dish network worked well. There was plenty of cookware and towels. The view of the lake was real nice. The park staff was nice and helpful with any information requested. The Heater worked well, remember it was January.
The cabin had a fireplace in it, Not sure it was active, With the Groupon discount I found this one night stay to have been FUN & NICE. Would I pay the summer rates, Yea I think we will go back try to rent two cabins, (that are adjoined) take my daughters and grandkids

Do I recommend them. YES if you know what your getting

We stayed in a dog friendly cabin that had a lakeview. The lakeview cabins are on one side of the park and the swim beach/launch is on the other which essentially means you need to get into the car to drive over or take a long walk. The cabin was on a bluff/hillside and over the tree tops we could see the water. The hillside looked to have a few trails that might make it down to the lake. My teenage son tried to walk down but came back after about 10 feet covered in stickers and such, and we determined it was too overgrown. We came in on a Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. The nature center was closed that day and also closed the next. The front office was closed as well. On Wednesday the pool was available at noon for a fee. It didn't appear that they had any kind of ranger programs for the kids.

The cabin itself was fairly clean ,but we had a "trick" drawer which you had to be careful when you pulled out or the contents would spill out. I guess I will politely call the cabin "rustic." ?? It had two bedrooms. One had a queen bed and the other had two twins. The front room/kitchen area had a pullout couch in it. The shower stall was pretty small. Outside we had a barbecue and a picnic table. These are duplex cabins so you can hear noise from the other side. Thankfully the a/c worked well and the cabin had a tv. Linens are provided and kitchen was pretty well stocked.

We didn't find much else in the area. There is a marina close by. We went back into the town called Gore to do our grocery shopping. About 50 to 60 minutes away is the Cherokee Heritage Center which would make a nice day trip. If you ever stayed at Fort Gibson (Western Hills Guest Ranch) Cabins, these are comparable but we found the park at Fort Gibson had more programs and things for the kids to do.
