Chimera is not only the best restaurant in Tulsa - it's also one of the best places I've ever eaten, period -- better than similar-seeming espresso bars/gastropubs in places like San Francisco, Seattle, and New York. While Chimera serves espresso drinks and pour-over coffees -- which do not disappoint -- unlike most coffee houses, the food here does not taste like an afterthought. Instead, it tastes like what you hope to find when going out for a special meal. Subtle, complex flavors; fresh, housemade bread -- but you can have it for a quick breakfast (breakfast tacos with housemade adzuki bean sausage), a working lunch (BBQ tofu sandwich; homemade vegan soups); or a special dinner (the best pizzas in Tulsa). The food coming out of Rob's kitchen is almost always made with in-house, from-scratch ingredients; innovative yet simple spice combinations, and there are always vegetarian and vegan options. But even die-hard meat-loving Okies report to me that they eat the BBQ tofu sandwich with regularity.
They also always have tasty (some vegan) baked goods, and a full bar.
At night, come here for a drink and dinner) made with housemade ginger beer, housemade liqueurs, and tea-infused gin.
I can't sing Chimera's praises enough, but I will stop now.
