Rio Verde has nothing on this place. In fact Rio Verde which is so highly touted by yuppies and the Tulsa World, was a disappointment to me after becoming a regular customer of this place.
There are so many good mexican restaurants in the 21st and Garnet (and 129th east ave) area that you shouldn't have a hard time finding a good meal. But this place is special.
They don't pull punches. When they say "la diabla" prepare to have the real thing. The experience should be one of pain, tears and sweat, followed by an endorphin high. It is the real thing.
Have you ever wondered about that stereotypical image of a mexican in a sombrero slooped over his knees at "siesta"? I think he's probably just recovering from one of these wonderful meals. It really is an experience.
Not everything is that spicy. Only addicts eat that way every day. I prefer the tacos de camarone. Hotter than most places, but oh so flavorful!
If you like the wet burritos at Rio Verde, you will love the ones here.
And last but not least, their specialty is seafood. Better than Rio Verde on this count too, imo.
I don't know why no one else has rated this amazing place. Probably for the same reason I hesitated. Too many customers usually does two things, make it impossible to get in, and ruin the place with success. I don't want this place to change, so please don't go there too often.
