Owner description: Enjoy memory-making experiences and engage children in creative, developmental play at Oklahoma's newest children's museum, the Oklahoma WONDERtorium in Stillwater. The WONDERtorium offers 14 hands-on, interactive exhibits and playscapes plus special activities weekly. The facility provides 10,000 square feet of exhibit space, classrooms and party rooms, office space and a gift shop. The Generation Station Barn exhibit offers kids the opportunity to 'milk' a life-size cow and collect eggs that can then be delivered to the Generation Station Store, a replica 1900s grocery store. Children can also enjoy pure active play sending scarves and foam balls through A-Mazing Airways, splashing in the Water Play exhibit or climbing a wall, sliding down a tree slide and crawling through a fallen log in Forest Playground. The Little WONDERs exhibit offers a play area for grown-ups with children under two to interact together away from the main exhibit floor. Another popular exhibit at the Oklahoma WONDERtorium is My Medical Center, where children engage in dramatic play by dressing up and pretending to be a patient or medical staff. Patients check in with paperwork and can be taken to the doctor's office where they are measured, weighed and tested for good vision. There's a pretend surgery and recovery area, a human body with removable parts, as well as a nursery where life-like babies are cared for. A special unit block area allows children to learn cognitive skills like hand-eye coordination, spacial perception and problem-solving, as well as the Imagination Playground where children are encouraged to create structures from large foam blocks. Ruth Cavins, Executive Director of the museum, said the focus of the WONDERtorium is on children learning through play. Expounding on focus, Cavins continues, "Children's play is important to healthy brain development because it allows them to use their imaginations, solve problems and interact and cooperate with others. Our exhibits are designed to allow children to create and explore a world they can master, discovering self-confidence and the benefits of sharing and negotiating.

If its kept up, it can be a fun few hours. The last few times there was no one manning the craft/paint/ water area, so no materials, very little paint etc....the kids favorite. They drained the water and were in no hurry to fill back up. The stations are great, again, if they are kept up. The kids love the little climbing wall. The gift shop is a highlight.

This is a fairly new place for children in Stillwater. Lots of fun things to play with and pretty good variety. After visiting twice in 6 months, my 9 year old had no desire to return. He called it boring. It is geared more for younger children. Adults with children must pay admission which I thought was a little much. There is not much in Stillwater for children so this has been a hit.

I came with a five year old and two year old and they loved it! Everything is touchable and movable. It's so fun for the kids but it's also good for the mind! Lots of the activities make kids problem solve and wonder! It's definitely a must for young kids! Good for both quiet kids and hyper kids. Very clean and well kept.

This small museum in Stillwater is a gem. Families with children 12 and under can enjoy a morning or afternoon (or morning and afternoon with a break for lunch) without running out of things to do. Children can engage in imaginative play in several areas (doctor's office, old time store, farm, Japanese home...) or build with blocks or create art or explore basic machines and more. Families in town for OSU events can take a break here and the children will be grateful for their time in this child-friendly space. If you have children with you, don't miss this place. My children are grown, so I have to "borrow" children to watch them play here. So much fun!

Thank you, FriendlyTrav, for pointing out the WONDERtorium is a great place to "take a break" from OSU events, show events at the Expo Center, and shopping downtown. We're centrally-located near the Stillwater High School football stadium!

We are so thankful to have a local science museum for children. Although it is small, kids self-entertain and can play for hours. My 6 and 9 year olds love it! It is clean and well-maintained. Make sure to check out the gift store. We bought geodes that the kids later cracked open. That was a fun souvenir!
