I first came to Howard Johnson in OKC about 4 months ago and recently stopped by again on another cross-country move, this time with the wife and dogs. Originally they gave us the top floor which did not work because my dogs apparently don't like stairs. Fine, they moved us to a downstairs unit for an extra $10 a night. I was grateful they could move us at all so that was fine. We got to our room and I don't know if this particular room was bad or if I had clouded judgment the first time around but it was not ideal. Tons of cracks in the wall, really antiquated appliances and TVs, and squeaky beds. Also, the sliding door to the pool area could not close all the way. There was maybe a half inch gap between the glass and the wall which isn't that big of a deal in theory as there were lots of bars to ensure you couldn't open it but it became a problem when there people in the pool.
Even though the hours were until 10, people were in the pool well into midnight and because our door didn't shut all the way, we heard everything. It was terrible. Definitely not a great night sleep.
Very disappointed in this hotel. I had specifically requested this hotel when we did our drive as i thought it was nice but it is now apparent that I was looking back in rose tinted glasses.
