“Piece of history”

This is a slice of old Oklahoma City back when living was gracious, little slower in pace. Love the fact they have retained the original tiles, woodwork and atmosphere of the house.

“Elegant Diamond in a once-rough setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2012

Intriguing walk through history. early Oklahoma History, when this luxury mansion was perched on a slight rise looking upon the growing Oklahoma City downtown area. Modern conveniences were scant then, so seeing how the home was heated and the new "electric phenomenon" was employed makes this enriching. The matching wallpaper and table setting touches, the scenic bell tower-styled writing studio, the upstairs playroom, heavy kitchen gas-fired range and the pocket doors are details not to be missed, as is the detached car "stable" that could have also accommodated horses. The mansion is sort of off the beaten track, that is, away from museums and things, but makes for a nice neighborhood walk after visiting the nearby Oklahoma City museum, botanical gardens or Bricktown ballpark. Being an old period home, access is limited, so call ahead. The guide was a superb and patient lady, both knowledgeable and approachable.

“Beautiful Home!”

Fun tour when they are operating. You can get discount tickets in advance if you scour the area or call them for tour times and prices. I would go again. :)

“Bit of Grand Old Money near Downtown OKC”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2012

As turn of the twentieth century Oklahoma mansions go, this one may be smallish, especially if you compare it to Philbrook in Tulsa, but it packs a punch, being so close to downtown Oklahoma City. The guide was wonderful, taking her time to fill us in on many details, including how the plate and wallpaper patterns were matched. The carriage house was a nice additional treat. It's location, on a corner that faced the still small city, was a bit daring for the time, but the neighborhood sprouted up around it. Nice way to spend maybe an hour after a OKC museum visit.

“Exceeded expectations!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2011

I was a little nervous because I took my two teenage daughters here whom are hard to impress and a 2nd and 5th grader and everyone had a great time! The tour starts on the south side west side of the house in the carriage house. They are raising money to renovate and add A/C. We were very pleased with our summer field trip.
