SpringHill Suites Oklahoma City Airport
Ranked #51 of 159 Hotels in Oklahoma City
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Positives: Close to airport, restaurants; courteous staff
Negatives: Uncomfortable mattress; traffic noise; confusing entrance

Within the past month we've stayed at SpringHill Suites in two other cities. Overall, we found this location a little lacking compared with those properties.

Entering the property -

Getting to this hotel can be confusing. It can be seen from nearby I-40 and from MacArthur Boulevard, but it sits behind a row of retail establishments. Primary access is through the Jack in the Box parking lot.

Good news, though: since all the parking areas are connected, you can return to the driveway and start again if you make a wrong turn.

First impression -

The desk clerk was personable and efficient. As he welcomed us he managed to ask about our day, thank us for being award members, and process registration in quick succession. I left the desk feeling appreciated.

Other impressions -

Outside, the building appears in good repair. Inside, though, we saw conditions ranging from "unfortunate" to "uncomfortable."

One "unfortunate" condition is the first floor hall carpet. It was clean but marred by a line of white bleach spots the entire length of the south hallway. We understand that carpet of this quality costs a lot to replace...it's too bad it's in such a high-traffic location.

More critical conditions were observed in our room. It looked clean but smelled stale, almost sweaty. We looked but didn't find anything truly "wrong"... For some reason it simply didn't smell as fresh as at other SpringHill Suites we've stayed in.

Also, our room was quite noisy. The mattress was lumpy; it sagged on one side. The bed creaked and popped. We reported it's condition at checkout. During our stay we frequently heard passing guests in the hallway. They weren't talking or walking loudly, but we could hear them anyway. Footfalls from guests in the room above us were easy to hear as well.

Beyond the building we heard truck noise from I-40. Perhaps rooms on the north side of the building don't suffer from highway sounds, but it would seem internal noises would be similar.

Breakfast blunder -

Items offered for breakfast at this location are similar to those elsewhere. We have enjoyed a wider array of waffle toppings in certain locations, but have also seen SpringHill breakfasts that weren't quite as robust.

We were surprised to find every carton of non-fat milk in the refrigerator had expired a couple of days before. This condition was referred to the dining area attendant; she apologized promptly replaced those cartons with fresher milk. I don't want to make too much of this incident, but it was the first time in dozens of stays at a Marriott property expired milk was offered.

The Bottom Line -

We are frequent Marriott guests and have stayed at almost every brand they offer in the past year. SpringHill Suites usually offer exceptional value for the experience. Our stay here was average...not exceptional. In this case, "average" is "below average." The biggest exception was the staff, particularly the desk attendants. Kudos to them.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from highway noise.

We recently stayed at this hotel to celebrate a friends birthday. There were some 30 people in our group and the hotel couldn't have been more accommodating! The birthday celebration was to take place at the Remington Park racetrack. So my friend had contacted the hotel about a shuttle to the park, so everyone didn't have to drive there. There's not many hotels that offer this service, but our van driver was very nice, even though he had to make several trips back & forth to the park to take us there & then pick us up after the races were over. The hotel staff was very friendly and the rooms were very clean. I didn't eat the breakfast, but some that did told me it was delicious and had a good selection. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to stay in this area of OKC!

Everything was up to my expectations. Hotel was clean, comfortable a great value for the price.
The staff was most gracious & accomodating. They made you feel like a guest in their home.
Ryan Allensworth, at the front desk greeted us us warmly when we checked-in. Pam Carlson the Director of Sales & Marketing does a great job of making sure the hotel staff follow-up on her commitments to customers.
The mornig breakfast was much better than I expected. The server ensured that the food & presentationwas top notch.

A most comfortable hotel for a weekend stay or a business trip.

Room Tip: a gool pool & jaccuzzi located on lobby floor

Located right off the interstate it's a great hotel for the passing traveler or longer stay. The staff is excellent and friendly. Check in was fast and easy. Good hot breakfast and also a mangers reception Monday thru Thursday with beer and wine. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Although it did not take 20 minutes I was on the second floor and it took at least two minutes to get hot water, which was a little annoying. Otherwise great location and hotel and I will be returning. Thanks!!!

Room was typical Springhill Suite, clean, roomy and comfortable. But being on the 4th floor turned out to be a problem. Fired the shower up and 20 minutes later still no hot water, not a great way to start a day that would be 14 hours of driving.

Staff was friendly and listened with empathy, but could not help.

Stayed here a week for business and had all the amenities and service to make you feel more at home. Relatively new hotel so there is less wear and tear, and rooms are clean. Location is near several restaurants and a main road meridian, but that also causes a lot of traffic. The nearby tractor trailer facility is fairly noisy as well. Complimentary breakfast and evening food/drinks are great. The staff does a great job at running the evening happy hour, with different food choices per night. Rooms are large and overall nicer than a Marriott Residence Inn. Did not have any issues while staying here and will be sure to stay again when in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the left side and in the back, away from the Tractor Trailer complex and the heavy...
