“Under New Ownership...time will tell”
Reviewed January 24, 2012

Othello's is more about mystique then it is about the menu or the food. A favorite hangout in the past from the movers and shakers of Norman, it fell on hard times and was recently bought back by original owners. While it may not be the best Italian in town, it is reasonable in cost, great service, good selection, and a casual, laid-back atmosphere.

“Loved everything about the new place!”
Reviewed January 11, 2012

Ate there last night for son's 20th birthday. We had been to the old Othello's for the past 2 birthdays and were crushed when they closed. Decided to give new one a try and we loved it. The service was wonderful and the owner/cook even came to our table because she and I had talked on the phone about some of the poor reviews. She was very open and cordial about everything. Loved the bread and all three of us really enjoyed our dishes. I had Pat's special, my husband had Greg's Lasagne Suprema, and my son had his favorite Black Mussels and like this one better with the thicker sauce. We don't visit often because it is a bit pricey but for special occasions it is our favorite go to place. Thanks for the wonderful family dinner.

“Won't be going back”
Reviewed January 7, 2012

The first time we went it was amazing, we had the best waitress and the food was really good. We have been there a few times since and were always incredibly disappointed. Food was disgusting and over priced and the wait staff hung out near the kitchen each time to chitchat rather than serve their tables.

“Small Menu”
Reviewed December 22, 2011

Didn't like this place. Service was not good and food was served lukewarm and small portions. Plenty other places to choose from in Norman -- TRY THEM!

“Economy is too bad to be blowin' your money here.”
Reviewed November 19, 2011

I wouldn't come back here ever again. We went to Othello's last night, and there is no bang for the buck; the quality and portions are better at Johnny Carino's than here. This place is PRICEY for what you get. (I'm not a chain restaurant girl. In fact, I try to avoid them and support the local economy. That being said, I would rather eat at Johnny Carino's or Zio's any day of the week.)

I ordered the pepperoni chicken for $11.95- it is smaller than a Lean Cuisine microwave dinner tray and didn't come with a starch underneath it. Chicken was chewy, and quality was nothing impressive. I could have made a version of this at home for MUCH better using boxed pepperoni, shredded cheese, and a jarred sauce for less than a quarter of the price.

Complimentary bread is a waste of calories - no flavor and not fully baked. One friend enjoyed her penne pasta, and the other one abandoned her entree to eat the penne as well since she didn't enjoy her artichoke parmigiana.

Atmosphere is fun for those that like a little whimsy; dark, a big molten looking candle on your table, and a little bit dingy... Server was great, attentive, and unobtrusive. Ultimately, this means you end up leaving a fat tip on some really expensive, unimpressive food...
