“Just OK”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

As an expatriot Texan I whipped right into Rudy's when I saw the sign. I was in town on business and was looking forward to some great Q. Living in Georgia, you just typically don't get great smoked brisket unless you do it yourself. If this Rudy's location is representative, it may be tough to find in Norman as well.

This location benefitted from a friendly staff and a very clean environment. What was not great on this night was the food. The brisket, which is the centerpiece of the menu here was really tough. I have eaten at several other locations and never had this issue. Maybe it was just an off night. Had sausage which was pretty good and coleslaw which was very bland and appeared to be a little on the old side.

“Loved Rudy's!”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

We were not familiar with Rudy's and thought it was a convenience store. :) We went in for gas and snacks and were pleasantly surprised to find THE BEST choices of meat, sides, and old-fashioned soda in a bottle. Great atmosphere and decor; staff was VERY helpful with meat samples and recommendations for the best value for our $$. An overall fun experience; the kids are still talking about the "great lunch in a gas station"!

“Barbecue at it's best!”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

For those who have been to a Rudy's before, this one is better than most. Bigger, cleaner, nicer staff. For those who have never been, why the heck not?? Rudy's is very unassuming from the outside. It's inside a gas station, just like every other Rudy's that I've ever been. Inside, though, you find an amazing barbecue restaurant. You order from a counter where the guys pull the meat right out of the smoker as you call out your order. The meat is chopped in front of you. There is a large variety of the standard barbecue meats, plus a large selection of side dishes. I've been many times and still struggle with what to order because it is all good. Rudy's sauce is spectacular. It is served on the side, so you control how much you get. There is a retail store there that sells the sauce and various rubs. I use their dry rub on my home cooked ribs and everyone raves about them. In Norman, Rudy's is slightly out of the way. But it's well worth the trip!
