“Just South of OKC is a Better Option”
Reviewed October 1, 2010

Just south of OKC in OK is Moore and just off the highway that goes to Dallas is a delightful Springhill Suites. I loved this hotel, but I need to qualify... I love IKEA. If you love the whole Swedish thing, this hotel is for you. This property is located in a newly rebuilt suburb of South OKC, with many shops and restaurants. Moore is outside OSU and has moore restuarants and easier access than the hotels we had stayed at downtown. OKC is a odd town, the highways and infrustruction were built (government programs) so that they overpass the lesser areas of the city. The problem is that those lesser areas are now the newer areas that most people wish visit and navigating the criss cross of interstates is complicated at best. The property is new in design and feel and appeared very well kept. The staff, as most of OKC, was very friendly and helpful and knew the area well. The breakfast was well appointed and the parking was close and well lit. If you are on buisiness or vacation this is a wonderful hotel for the solo traveler or family. And with spacious public areas a group trip is also within the mark. The internet inroom and in the public areas was quick and the room was spacious. If you can deal with a very non-traditional property, this is the hotel for you, especially if you love IKEA.

Room was designed by a man no question. The lighting was bad. If you want to put on makeup you will need to bring your own lighted mirror. The shower was separate from the toliet which was good, but I had to balance my foot on the shower wall to shave my legs. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. For a new hotel there was lots of stains on the carpet and couch. The staff was helpful when the maid didn't give us towels and when our first room didn't have a working A/C unit. The breakfast was good and they always had coffee and water for everyone which was nice. Next time we will probably pay the extra $10 a day and stay at the Marriott downtown though.

Having stayed in a Danish hostel in the past, this hotel was oddly similar to it. The design and furniture in the suites and throughout the hotel were modern and hip. Unfortunately, Scandinavian design always makes me feel like it's cold and procedural. The Springhill Suites seemed to trade in its home-y and comfortable feel for a snazzy look. However, it is a big plus that everything is new and it's got some neat design details like how the glass panels in the desk area slide open. I did not like how the toilet and shower were separated though. The toilet 'room' and shower 'room' had their own sinks and mirrors. I think this would be appreciated more if there were multiple people staying in the rooms. The shower panel was the best part of the room as it included 2 jet massagers!

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was standard Springhill fare. There are several fast food places surrounding the hotel but I would recommend going to exit 116 for better food options.

Perhaps more modern and hip than this over 60 year old was prepared for, but we did enjoy the spacious room, the large walk in shower, high speed internet and a darn good breakfast.

I checked out the hotel's website & saw the pictures of the rooms. I thought that it was probably just a model room & surely all the rooms didn't look like that...well, I was wrong. It was so modern & contemporary. The hotel was built in the summer of 2009. The night receptionist was fantastic. Super nice staff. The breakfast was okay. Lots of high schoolers were making noise, but the staff was working to keep them quite.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel and room were exactly as pictured on their website! Everything was clean. The staff was amazing and the continental breakfast was fresh with variety.

We had a great stay here. The hotel is brand new, well appointed, and very clean. All rooms come with a fridge/microwave, and since they are technically suites, there is a half-partition between the sleeping area and the work desk. Breakfast is continental but there's a good selection, including some hot items. The staff are incredibly friendly.

I like to stay in Springhill properties whenever I can; this was one of the best I've stayed at. It's sort of in an odd location, but is right near a major highway, and if you take 8th away from the highway there's some small-town-type shopping (groceries, Wal Mart, etc.). It's pretty convenient to main highways leading to the city. If we're ever back in OKC we'll definitely stay here again.
