“Wonderful lake experience every time we come here!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We stay at Alberta Creek either in the rv spots on the lake or cabins. We've always had a great experience! Love being able to book online. The restaurant is fabulous! Best burger I've ever had! The fishing guides are also second to none out of Alberta Creek-if you love to catch stripers this is the marina to go out of.

I did not expect a lot as this is a rental resort located on Corps of Engineer property. The cabin (manufactured home) was clean (except for the carpet) but a lot of maintenance has been overlooked (sliding doors on closets for one). What is most distressing about this resort is that it does not furnish face towels or paper towels in the unit. In addtion, the marina does not sell minnows for fishing. Since this is a lot of what goes on here, I cannot understand this.

Room Tip: I don't think you are given a choice here, at least I wasn't.

We stayed 2 nights, and had to stay in 2 different trailers. Both were equally disgusting. It says it includes bedding...well, you get a sheet and a dirty comforter. We had blood and semen on ours and demanded some clean bedding, I asked the housekeeper if they ever clean the comforters and she said 'when she has time'! When we woke up in the morning, all our food that we brought for breakfast was destroyed by mice and we had mouse droppings everywhere, in our suitcases, on the tables, etc. It was HORRIBLE! They are over-priced trashy places to stay. We paid $190 a night! THis is NOT a resort, this is a dump!

We regret a mouse snuck in overnight. Our pest control company was called that day and responded the following day. The little creature was removed and we have had no further incidents reported. We refunded your night's charge in full. Mouse in our lodging is unacceptable to you and us. Thanks for staying and hope you will come again.

We stayed their this week. We have stayed there the last three years. The price was ok then the trailers we are normally in was supposedly rented however those units was empty the whole time. When we booked this years trip they told us those mobile homes where full and couldn't put us in them. But we have a bigger one that is more money.. so we said ok.. Well the other units have sectionals and 4 beds this one had three beds and a sofa sleeper does this make it bigger?? Still sleeps the same(or less if one normally sleeps on sofa) and only one separate bedroom.. Had a sheet that separated the living room from bedroom.. One tv dish network on it remote didn't work..Carpet is very worn.. Smelled bad as the toliet was leaking and they told us they would fix it they didn't. It had been leaking awhile floor showed leaking .. I didn't want to even use the bathroom. One of the people that worked there we told him about it and he said they move people out of this one all the time because the smell. Ants are all over the bathroom and kitchen.. When we told them about this the response was well it is that time of year. Carpet was very worn... No Internet either but I knew this cell phone coverage is marginal but of course you are at the lake but.. If you stayed at the holiday inn in durant it is nice and new cheaper includes breakfast internet nice beds for less money! They did change the beds this year so the beds are a bit better from last years trip. But still not great.

I stayed here because my friends like being close to the lake.. This year they even had enough after the cost increase and being lied to about the other trailers being full, ants and nasty bathroom.

Room Tip: Go to Holiday inn., Best western or something else in durant....

We regret the appearance of you having been misled. Please let us explain: When a customer requests a multi-day stay our reservation system "looks" for availability that will accomodate the customer request for the entire length of their stay without having to move them from one unit to the next. The system does not show us other options like - stay in one unit for 2 days then move to another. So, when you requested a specific unit for your multi-day stay, the system showed only the unit that was available for your entire stay. The unit you had requested was occupied for 1 or more days of your stay but not for the entire stay. It appeared to our reservation person who handled your call that the unit you requested was therefore "not available". So, while you and your friends were there, it would have appeared to you as though the unit you requested, but were not allowed to get, was empty for the first day or two of your stay but was in fact rented by someone else for part of your stay. Hope this helps explain.

The "leaky" toilet was actually a fresh water leak from the fill line. A customer the week before had an epileptic seizure while in the bathroom and fell onto the toilet fixture and shattered it into 20 peices. The clean-up was handled quickly and the toilet replaced but the fill line had evidently not been tightened tightly enough. Apologies.

The "sheet" between the rooms is actually a light weight curtain and the floor plan of that unit doesn't allow us much other option for privacy. Most of our guests don't mind it. Sorry it was not to your liking.

Oh, where do I begin? I'll number these to make more sense of them.

1. A lot of the camp sites are advertised to be "shaded". There may be shade, but it's not anywhere at this campsite. They have tall trees, which are denuded almost all the way to the top. This leaves ZERO shade anywhere on the property.

2. The bathrooms were horrible. The showers do not drain, so you're constantly standing in other peoples' shower waste water. By the 2nd day of our trip, all the toilets were completely clogged and about a foot deep in feces. We figured we'd just use our RV bathroom and dump it on the last day. Big mistake, which leads into #3....

3. When we went to the dump station, it was not only completely backed up, the entire area was flooded with used toilet paper, urine and feces. There was absolutely nowhere to dump! Imagine this horrid scene on a hot Oklahoma day in May. The entire area had an odor I can hardly describe.

4. The property advertises to be lakeside. Yes, it's technically on the lake, but what you're up against is better described as a swamp. I wouldn't let my kids swim there. We drove 6 miles away to the Lake Texoma State Park to go swimming. It was much safer than swimming with sticks and God knows what else.

We were very disappointed by this place and would highly suggest other travelers completely avoid it.

Your stay came immediately after the 2007 flood when our lake rose 26 feet and stayed above normal pool for 2 months. Unfortunately, the flood killed 28 very large trees in our RV park. Our website had not been updated to show the shading changes after the tree kill. Even now, the shading shown varies by time-of-day and position of the sun. The site shows shaded areas at high noon.

As to the bathroom - someone had flushed what appeared to be a bag of dirty diapers into our expensive and well maintained sewage treatment system. You appear to have gotten right in the middle of the water back-up before it had even been reported. (We check the bathhouse twice daily). We certainly apologize for the inconvenience and the uncomfortable conditions that created for you and our other guests. This problem was resolved as quickly as it was reported.

We just stayed at the Alberta Creek Resort & Marina at Lake Texoma. The lodging they offer is mobile homes that are a short walk to the marina. They were spacious and clean but a little worn. The leather sofas had a lot of rips and tears and the lineoleum floors were chipped and torn. The amenities (kitchen supplies, coffee pot, microwave, toaster oven, etc) were basic but available. The beds were clean and comfortable.

If you are looking for an economical place to stay and don't need anything fancy, this would be the place. We also rented a boat and the rates for that were very reasonable as well.

We met at least 7 different employees and they were all pleasant and helpful.

We did not eat at the restaurant but saw a LOT of people coming and going there so the food must be pretty good.

Just bought a lake house at Alberta Creek and I love it! The people are great, very good marina, nice semi-private beach to swim at, slips for the boat. All in all, good place to stay or live. Highly suggest.
