I ate dinner at Prairie Fire twice in May 2013. The service was impeccable both nights. The first night I shared the potato nachos appetizer with a friend - delicious! The second night I had the trout. It was fine, nothing special, but good enough. The cheese board appetizer was awesome for sharing. I love how you can scale the portion size up or down to fit the size of your group. I highly recommend Prairie Fire to anyone passing through Elk City, Oklahoma.

We stopped in Elk City on our cross-country trip, and found Prairie Fire on the web. It's worth seeking out. The restaurant is in the old, converted railroad depot. We started with the Fried Duo (Fried Pickles & Fried Green Beans), as we had never seen or had this before. It was good! My grilled poblano burger had a butterflied poblano on top. The burger was very tasty - a nice combo. My wife had the Tres BLT, also good. Nice, thick bacon. This was an unexpected find in Elk City, which to us (Easterners) seemed like the middle of nowhere. I can easily recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in the area.

The food was excellent, every thing we ordered was fresh and delicious! Service was lacking, not that the food took too long to prepare, but we had to wait a while to get a table then wait more at the end of the meal to get our check and slow service in between... but they were very friendly and the building was very cool (and a bit ironic since my family is in Elk City because of railroad construction)

The deep fried green beans and pickles were amazing, my daughter's chicken was even delicious, seafood was good, loved the sweet potato fries and overall everything was cooked exactly right! Not to mention, the steak. Its a steakhouse and though their salad isn't much (homemade croutons needed seasoning), one thing for sure is their steak is amazing. Very pricy, but it clearly starts with high-quality beef and its very satisfying.

Most of the visit I enjoyed, but I ordered fried okra, and it was whole okra battered and fried, wasn't real fond of it. I had a bacon-cheeseburger, and it was good. I prefer my okra chopped up and fried, where it gets crispier, not juicier. Service was ok. Good place to eat, but if you're after regular fried okra, be ready for whole fried okra.

Price is high. Takes to long, salad was nothing to brag about. Its mostly all lettuce. And food could stay in the kitchen. They need trained. And cell phones left at home.
