Goldie's Patio Grill in Edmond is a franchised location of a Tulsa-based restaurant chain, which originally opened in the early 1960's. Tulsans loved Goldie's, so it has been franchised across the state.
The food (burgers, fries, cole slaw, baked beans, steaks, etc.) is very good ... simply wonderful. Some compare this place to Johnnie's Charcoal Broiler, which is better known and does a better job of marketing their locations. But, I like the food here just as well, possibly more.
Because ... the seasoning they use in their hamburger meat is fantastic!! They also offer a free pickle bar with sweet and dill pickles, which both kids and adults like. Portions are generous. I really like the sweet cole slaw and the baked beans, too.
Their new location is on Danforth Road in north Edmond, just west of Kelly. The 9th St. location no longer exists (as of 2008). Our family liked the openness of the other restaurant better. This one is in a strip mall, and the space seems to be a little dark and less inviting. But, they've done the best they can with the existing space.
The other building was older, but just had a more open feel. We preferred it.
But, the food at Goldie's is great, and the service is good, so go and enjoy.
