During a short vacation we drove from Oklahoma City to Duncan on a rainy day just to see the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center. What a pleasant surprise. We were most impressed with the cattle trail theater (Chisholm Trail Experience Theater) experience but the automated and interactive displays and hands-on exhibits were very informative as well. We didn't have a chance to see the out-of-doors exhibits because of the weather but there was plenty to see and do indoors. Kids seemed to be really enjoying the place but adults will come away with a better understanding of what a cattle drive was like.
The Chisholm Trail Experience Theater is unique because it appeals to so many of the viewer's senses. One experiences the sounds, feel and even smells of life on a cattle drive.
Admission was only $4.00 and the two staff people were very helpful. There is also a little gift shop. This place is not easy to find so pay attention to the signs -- it is worth it.
