“Awesome!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

I eat lunch here at least once a week. The food is the really great, especially the grilled chicken spinach wrap. Gayla's has great dessets of all kinds, and a neat little gift shop.

“Real "from scratch" home cooking!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2012

What a pleasant surprise! Gayla's serves up really good homemade food. I ordered a "grilled" pimento cheese sandwich and my husband ordered a burger. Both were excellent. My sandwich was smeared with butter, not oil, before they grilled it. What a difference that makes in flavor! I loved the interior of the restaurant. . . very charming. The owners visited with us and were very welcoming and kind. We would definitely go back.

“Excellent lunch stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2012

I said "lunch stop" only because I haven't had breakfast or supper here, yet, but I will. I got a cheeseburger with fries, iced tea and asked if they could do fried onions on the burger. No problem. The burger was ample, fresh veggies with it, and the lettuce was real leaf lettuce, not wimpy iceberg. Fries were good also. Cheeseburger, fries and tea was about $9, which some might think is a bit steep, but for what you get, the quality, and the service, it's a very good price. The server was apparently the owner, and she was running the dining area all by herself. (It also sounds like she does catering.) Very friendly, many locals were obviously regulars, and it got fairly busy about 12:05. I could see some German chocolate cake through the window in the kitchen, which looked REALLY tempting, but I've got to stay awake this afternoon! But I'll be back. If you're in Clinton and it's mealtime, stop here, you'll enjoy it.

“the absolute best stop in clinton for lunch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2011

Housed in the old Dorsey fruit market/household Gayla's has lots of old route 66 charm and history. the kitchen was once the bedroom of the Dorsey's and food is picked up by the server from the "bedroom window". a favorite of locals, Gayla's has excellent sandwiches, soup and a daily special (i had a bbq chix wrap...perfect size, tasty).
In addition to good food, Gayla (yup, a real person...not only good looking, but very friendly too) is moving her gift shop into the market. Lots of eclectic goodies.
Clinton is one of those rare towns where you can still find LOTS of friendly people and Gayla's personifies this, and has a great menu. A quick stop off of Rt. 40 at 301 Gary BLvd (main drag). Don't miss it.
