The staff was friendly; the location was good; the facility was very attractive; and the breakfast was more than adequate. The handicap-accessible room/suite was one of the nicest we have ever seen. Everything was perfect--except the door to the handicap-accessible room, which seemed twice as heavy as the door to our regular room. Since it was so heavy, we were sure there was a button or some easy way to get the door to open automatically. However, when we checked with the front desk, they apologetically said there was none. This was a problem, since we were unable to get adjoining rooms, and the person staying in the accessible room struggled to get out of her room unless one of the others in our party came from their room ro open her door for her. I wonder how a wheelchair-bound guest could ever enter or exit the room??
Our rooms were on the second floor, and we noticed that several on that floor were handicap-accessible rooms. Not a problem unless there is a fire. How ccan wheelchair-bound and mobility-challenged individuals get downstairs in case of such an emergency?
We were using our HHonors points for Rewards Nights, but $50 per room was charged to my credit card--supposedly for "incidentals." I was told that these charges will be dropped, but that remains to be seen....More
