“I Love This Course!”
Review of WGC Golf Course

WGC Golf Course
Reviewed April 3, 2017

WGC is a respectable course only about 2 miles from downtown Xenia. It is a family owned business and they do a good job caring for the property. The course is set adjacent to a neighborhood, farm field and nestled up against rolling hills. The layout offers tight fairways and blind shots as well as some nice scenery along brooks. In the Spring, the fairways may have some soggy spots. The greens are in decent shape and offer some challenging putts. One nice bonus is that they offer a free round of golf with cart rental around the time of your birthday! I don't suppose the course will end up in Golf Digest or host a major tournament, but if you are looking for some time on the links, give WGC a chance.

Located at the end of Country Club Drive, this not-easy-to-find gem of a golf course in NE Xenia, Ohio, is a long-standing course originally opened in the 1920's as a 9-hole private golf course. Expanded to 18 holes years ago & now a public course, it has a feel of two different courses.
The older front nine is flat & features two water hazard holes. The par 5, first hole plays long with fairway water hazards on both the right and left side. The green is undulating & is small and narrow. Your approach shot must clear the left water hazard which cuts across about half of the fairway in front of the green. A par on this hole should be the start of a great round!
The back nine features many blind tee shots over hills or down into valleys. The 10th hole, par 4 heads downhill to a long, narrow green with woods & water greeting you to the right or if you go over the green. The green seriously slopes to the right. Keep your approach to the left & short of the green to avoid trouble.
The current owners have done a great job in maintaining & improving this course. It is in far better shape than we found it a few years ago. We played in late fall & the greens were lightning fast and could not hold most chip shots.
Enjoy a challenging round and expect a few additional shots if this is your first outing on this gem of a course!
