As a graduate of The College of Wooster, I was looking forward to our stay at the Wooster Inn. We were disappointed, but let's start with what was good. The building is beautiful and well located just off the College campus. The staff were uniformly courteous and made every effort to be helpful even though some appeared to be poorly trained. There is no elevator and we had two heavy suitcases. This was no problem. A staff member led us to the freight elevator and saw that we were settled in our room. She said that the room seemed cold (it was) so brought us an electric heater. That's when the problems began. We settled in for a nap but could not sleep because the radiator emitted loud gurgling noises even though it gave off no heat. A staff member came up and said it needed adjustment which she did. There was still no heat but the noises continued -- and were still evident when we came back from the mediocre and inexpertly served dinner downstairs. We asked for help and were told that the heat never came on unless it was 57 degrees outside -- a different answer than we'd had previously. We were offered three other rooms which we inspected but two of them had radiators with the same gurgling noise. We were tired and decided to stick with what we had but the noise in the radiator continued all night and all of the next day. The room was OK except for a foul odor in the shower drain. Breakfasts were modest and cereal bowls were dirty on both days. We heard some people getting on a wait list to stay at the Inn for graduation in 2014. Unless changes are made in this establishment, they may wish they had stayed elsewhere.
