“A very romantic stay”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

Staying at The Market Street Inn was my wife and I's very first bed and breakfast. It was a very nice romantic experience. We stayed in the Lincoln room, listed as the most romantic room. Our overall experience was exceptional. The only thing about our room we did not like, was the fact that our assigned bathroom was about 12 steps down the hallway from our room (I did however know this when I reserved the room). The breakfast was scrumtious!! Our hostess, Jayne, was very nice and accomadating. She made sure she found out about any allergies we may have to know how to prepare our breakfast. As it is, my wife is lactose intolloant. So, Jayne made a special platter of pancakes just for my wife. Thank you Jayne and Allen for a wonderful experience!!

The attention and care Allan and Jane put into this home are obvious from first stepping onto the property. This home is exquisite and the service provided matches any expectations. Allan's cooking is fabulous!

Seeing the beauty of the house interior is worth the price of admission. We stayed in the 'Lydian' room because it had an ensuite shower bath. It was in the rear of the house we heard no noise from the main street. The owner, Jane, was very cordial and accommodating. You need to be aware that like any old house, it is a long trip up from the basement for the hot water to reach the shower head. Also, there was maybe 6" max. between the bed and the side wall and the two people in the bed felt like sleeping in a hammock - no support.

We went to this B&B as a get-away for an anniversary weekend. It was such a pleasant surprise! The room was beautiful and the whole inn was above our expectations! We have been in many B&B's, and this would rate among the top few of our favorites. Decorating is with appropriate period pieces, food outstanding, and the whole stay was an exceptional value. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The Bexley is the largest room with private bath. A few rooms have a short walk down the hall to th...

Really a beautiful house. It's worth staying here just to see all the intricate details of the inside-- the floors in particular are amazing. Our room (Lewis) was so full of light. The breakfast was delicious, and Jane was very conscious of any dietary needs or restrictions. The location is also quite good, walking distance to the stores and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again, if I am traveling anywhere near Wooster!

We stayed at the Market St. Inn Oct. 21, 2013. Our room was the Lydian, for $100.00 per night and we stayed one night. The house is on a busy street next to a commercial downtown area. That said, Wooster is a small college town and has a great vibe. We could walk up and down the main street from our inn, and it is loaded with very good restaurants (we ate at Melvin's, and in innkeepers own a good one that we have enjoyed on a previous visit). Downtown has been well-restored and it is obvious that the town planners are working hard to make it viable. Our room was at the back of the house and we did not experience street noise. Neither did the couple we traveled with whose room was at the front. The house is situated on a small city lot, well-landscaped, but nothing exciting.

This is a true Victorian mansion. It is completely wood paneled with coffered and hand painted ceilings. The workmanship is exquisite and it is well-maintained. In addition, the architecture includes a turret with its circular space addition to the common areas down stairs and the lucky bedroom above it. The stairway features a lovely stained glass window and the house is furnished with some fine antiques right down to a piano and grammaphone in the front parlor.

Our room was the smallest bedroom. It had an ensuite bath (not all do, check the room description carefully if this is a must for you). A queen bed a chair and a dresser pretty well filled the room. The decor was, oddly enough, Italian. Tastefully done, but unexpected in a Victorian home. The bath was small, but tiled and nicely decorated. The room has an air conditioner. It is located at the end of the hall and is very private. This room was fine for us carrying overnight bags for one night. For a longer stay or for big luggage, I would recommend a larger room. We found the bed a little soft for our taste but that is a matter of preference.

Both the innkeepers are trained chefs. The breakfast was delicious as one would expect. They were careful to ascertain food preferences when we arrived. They are friendly, helpful, eager to please and not intrusive. When we asked for space to play dominoes, she was quick to help. (A dedicated game table would be a nice addition in this house).

We have experienced the best and worst of B&B travel, and the Market Inn was right up there with some of our better stays. We recommend it.

Room Tip: Check carefully for ensuite baths if that is a must for you. That said, all the baths are close and...

We very much enjoyed our stay at this Inn which we were pleased to find in this little town! We stayed in the Lincoln room which we liked very much; I think it has a bigger TV but a smaller bed than some of the rooms (the bed was super comfy!). The bathroom was less than 10 steps down the hall and very nice and cozy. The best part of our stay was the gourmet homemade breakfast every morning (and the tea and coffee right outside our door). It exceeded our expectations and left us so full that we did not need lunch. Would very much recommend this place to stay.

Room Tip: we stayed in the Lincoln which I described a bit above...would recommend.
