OK place. Most of the staff are very good. A few would obviously rather not be there. Food is good and they have an excellent selection of draft beers

“Problematic - it's a given for this location”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Always hit or miss - you name it we've likely experienced the problem here at Max & Erma's Restaurant, Wilmington, OH.
For the most part the food is good - can't go too wrong with a burger I guess. However, I've tried to order on various occasions the pot pie and it's always dry - ALWAYS. Mister orders it and it's moist and creamy inside. Go figure!
We've had the fish fry dinner on Friday and it's okay - for what it is - fish, slaw, fries and hushpuppies. Sometimes the fish can be overcooked.
Mister has had the fish & chips on other visits and the fillets are on the puny side for the money.
On one occasion I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Pasta - "Savory grilled chicken breast tossed with a sun‑dried tomato pesto, zucchini, Kalamata olives, mushrooms & artichokes. Then topped with feta cheese. Served with a House Garden Salad." Again on an evening when the place was understaffed - the manager brings my entree. I looked at her confused and said I had hoped to have my salad first. Apparently, the waitress overlooked that part of serving.
Refills on iced-tea or even water can be ridiculously long waits - we have become accustomed to this.
There are times when service and food are noticeably in sync and we find it was joyously worth our visit to add another visit to our Good Neighbor Card. Unfortunately, the restaurant is typically understaffed.
Enough complaints have been submitted over the years it is no longer worth the effort to write to them.
We would boycott this location, however this M&E is 3 miles from home and too convenient for those evenings when I'm too exhausted to cook. So, take your chances with this one - if you go in with low expectations it will be spot on or you might get surprised with a great visit.

“Convention Hotel Restaurant”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The staff and servers very efficient and accommodating. Apparently this chain has online coupons. Check this out for saving some money on a meal. We ate two different times for breakfast and one lunch. We had well prepared food and excellent service. We are rewards members at the hotel and received one discount coupon for several dollars off a meal.

“Service was not the best”
Reviewed April 25, 2013 via mobile

Food and the cost was okay. The atmosphere was decent. Waitress seemed a little confused at times. Forgot about some of the order and was not very attentive. Will go back again and give them a second chance.

“Excellent Service and Delicious Food!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

We just at this restaurant in Wilmington. WOW! For a restaurant located in a hotel, this was a tremendous surprise. From the time we entered the restaurant we were greeted and made to feel welcome by numerous staff members, including the manager. Our visit was on a Saturday and the restaurant was very busy...... they didn't miss a beat. They were well staffed and well managed. We ordered appetizers (fried pickles) that came to the table in minutes and were hot and delicious. I had the laredo steak and my husband had the tuscan chicken. Both were cooked perfectly and scrumptious......... we REALLY loved the roasted potato medley. The server never let us want for anything........ our drinks were replenished when they were less than half full, dirty dishes were removed immediately, and we didn't have to wait forever on the check (a pet peave). Other tables around us were receiving the same excellent treatment and I heard several comments on much better things had gotten recently. Well, don't know how things used to be, but they were great on this visit. We will definitely mark this as a stop the next time in this area.
