I stayed at the Residence Inn West Chester for 3 nights in February.
The check in was perfect. I had a one bedroom suite with a separate bedroom and living area. The room was beautifully appointed, with smoked glass in the kitchen cabinets, red accent walls, a funky ottoman, and reclining side chair. The complimentary high speed internet access worked very well. The kitchen was well stocked like all Residence Inns. The bed was very comfortable, and the two digital TVs were wonderful. A funky touch was the red polka dot shower curtain. What a nice change of pace.
The room was cleaned to perfection every day.
On my first morning there, I noticed that the hair dryer was missing. (They do not have wall mounted hair dryers.) I called the front desk, and within five minutes, housekeeping brought me a hair dryer. Now that is excellent service.
The lobby area is nicely designed, with booths for groups to gather and several large couches. However, the breakfast area has two small entrances, with a lot of tables outside the serving area. It does give it a cramped feeling. The breakfast food was very good and fresh.
I did not get a chance to partake of their weekday complimentary happy hours between 6-8 p.m., but it looked like people were socializing and enjoying themselves.
The workout room was excellent. There were two ellipticals, two treadmills, and a bike. Each piece of cardio equipment had a TV with complimentary earphones provided. That was fantastic. The equipment is brand new, so it all worked well. The room was well stocked with towels, sanitizing wipes, and water. They also have an agreement with the super large Urban Active (less than a mile away) where you just show your room key card (along with your drivers license), and you can use their enormous facility as well.
I never noticed any delays with the elevators. I also did not hear any barking dogs. However, keep in mind that Residence Inns routinely allow pets (the owners pay extra for the dogs), because a lot of their clientele are people who are in the process of relocating. If you don't like the possibility of encountering a dog, check the hotel's policy before you check in. There is a perfectly nice Hampton Inn nearby that does not allow pets if this is a concern to you.
There are several convenience stores nearby where you can stock up on drinks and snacks for the fridge. In addition, there are too many restaurants to name within one mile of the hotel (including the streets of West Chester across I-75). The steakhouse Jags is right across the street and is a top notch steakhouse.
My only complaint is that the room prices are a little bit steep for the area. If they could drop their rates $20/night, I could justify staying there on every one of my monthly trips to the area.
