“A must while shopping IKEA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2011

IKEA sometimes is a diversion shopping experience, and we always goto the second level to sample the IKEA Cafe. Expect Swedish meatballs and smoked salmon; other specials might be available.

IKEA Cafe is really a cafeteria style restaurant, and serves as a nice break from shopping.
There is nothing special, except for the novelty of the IKEA Cafe. Expect cafeteria service, which means do it yourself. Really inexpensive lunch stop.

“Good food for a reasonable price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2010

If you are in West Chester, Ikea is a must stop anyway so why not try their restaurant. It is a cafeteria style eatery and has a lot to choose from. The prices are very reasonable and they often offer to pay if you spend more than $100 dollars in the store (just give your food receipt when you pay and they will credit you back).

When we visit we usually have the Swedish Meatballs with potatoes. They are tasty and the sauce is good. The deserts are good and the chocolate cake is very good. They have many other things to choose from and their kids meals are always a hit.

They also have a kids area to eat in that allows the adults to eat in peace while the kids can sit in tables designed for them. It keeps the kids entertained and allows the adults to eat in peace knowing the kids are safe.

Drinks are served in rather small glasses so you will need to go for refills if you drink more than a bird, but they are free. In addition, they ask you to bus your own trays, but it helps to keep the cost down.

“What else can we say? THE best meatballs & more!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2010

This is a place to shop and for most who have not been to an Ikea that means hours, hours and more hours shopping for kitchen things, furnishings, home goods, gifts and more. That's why it's good that this Swedish chain has a Swedish supermarket and a restaurant in every location --- you can shop until you drop, eat and shop some more. We have been to a number of them before and have stopped JUST FOR LUNCH a few times---even once in Wenesbury, a suburb of Birmingham in the UK!
So what's so great? The Swedish meatballs with sauce and ligonberry jam. They also have awesome gravlox (smoked cured salmon) Swedish desserts., non-alcoholic drinks and it's all a deal at under $15 for two. The place is a huge cafeteria so be prepared for a line at mealtimes, and you do have to carry your own tray and clean up after, but hey, this is all part of the fun. They offer small tables by the windows, and huge ones where you can share tips and travel stories with fellow diners from around the world. No one we talked to this time was even from Cincinnati! Fort Wayne, Columbus and Indianapolis, yes...but locals? NOOOO! Ikea draws from miles and miles and the restaurant is one good reason why: reasonable prices, great food and something unique for a palate usually filled with burgers and fries. Everybody loves the meatballs!

If you love them enough, for under $12 you can head downstairs and buy the whole kit frozen to take home. We always bring a cooler and ice for the meatballs. The jam's in a bottle and sauce in a packet so they don't need to be kept cold. We also took home for a treat some of the lox, some herring in a garlic sauce and some Swedish cookies. You can sample it all upstairs in the restaurant, then take home more --- it's a deal and one we gladly drive 96 miles to eat at as often as we can! And sometimes, when we are on the road, way more than 96 miles, like that time in England.
