“Best Hotel in the Beachwood Area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2010

I have been a regular guest at this hotel for the past 4 years while working on a business project. The service of the hotel has always been top-notch with the staff in all areas --- from the service desk at the time of check-in, to walking into a clean fresh room made possible by the housekeeping staff, even to the morning and evening host/hostess in the concierge lounge. The treatment that I receive makes we want to come back again and again.

In addition, anytime that I have a problem (which is very minimal), the staff always goes the extra mile to make sure that it is corrected to my satisfaction.

My colleagues and I travel a lot. Thus, we have had a lot of experience with various levels of hotels. At the time of my stay, I had access to the concierge lounge. The evening attendent, Myra, was amazing. Myra went out of her way to make our stay more comfortable. They had appitizers and dessert every evening, and breakfast in the morning. Myra made sure that we had everything we needed, and kept us company. She was not the only employee to make us feel more comfortable. The desk staff was friendly, helpful, and greeted us every evening when we returned for the night. Also, the HR manager, Micheal, was very hospitable. Approaching us in the lobby to make sure we had everything we needed and if there was anything he could do improve our stay.

The rooms were nice and clean, this was all around a good place to stay. If we return to the area, we will defenetly return to this hotel.

I had the occasion to stay here in late March, 2009. I had zero complaints about the hotel. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable.
The restaurant in the lobby of the hotel was decent, but mildly expensive. Wireless internet access costs $10/day. The workout room was well-equipped.

We stayed a couple of nights in October 2006 and November 2006 and then stayed a WEEK in January 2007.

We moved 1200 miles cross country from Texas to Ohio!

We made this Marriott our home for a week!

We have ZERO negative things to say! Very NICE Front Desk!

Nice rooms etc....

The Marriott Cleveland East was an OK place to stay. It's close to the highway, close to a lot of stores and restaurants and centrally located to a lot of Cleveland suburbs. This hotel has received a lot of great reviews because it's new. It's "newness" is nice, however, this is one of the most visibly dusty hotels that I've stayed in. You could see the dust on the vented closet doors, the desk, the tables, the lamps, etc. Also, there were several different hair colors, textures, types on the tiled floor in the entry way and bathroom...Another issue was very low water pressure for the shower. It's hard to enjoy a shower and feel refreshed if the shower is all but a soft trickle. I was also disappointed to find that my sheets weren't changed while i was there. I was only there for the weekend for a wedding but there's no way to select the option of requesting that your sheets are changed daily (no sign electing 1 option or the other). I guess you could call housekeeping but we returned late on the second night...I made the front desk aware of these issues. They were very apologetic and appreciative of the feedback. Overall, I'd recommend it as the newness of the property definitely helps a lot but take slippers and be prepared to wipe things down.

Visiting John Carroll college for a student orientation, which is located approx. 5 miles away without getting back on the highway, I was very pleased with this Marriott having stayed in many others for years.

A beautiful spacious atrium-type lobby greets you as you enter, filled with plants and a large fountain in the center. The Rivercity Grille restaurant sits just to the left of the lobby and has excellent food and very accomodating staff.

Our room with a KING bed was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Wireless internet is available at no additional cost. Though we didn't use the workout area (which had many pieces of new equipment) or the indoor pool, they looked inviting and we would probably had taken advantage of both if we had more time. I would definitely consider returning in the future if I had the need to be in that area again.

  • Liked — comfortable and spacious room, beautiful lobby, delicious food in the restaurant
  • Disliked — expensive meal (prices are high for hotel restaurant)

This was my first time staying in this area and this hotel, from the other reviews, said this property was fairly new and nice and it is both new and nice.
I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the room. Granted, it is a Marriott, so it is pretty typical, but featured nice new comfortable beds, cordless phone, nice t.v., fridge and a nice size closet.
The bar in the lobby was quite adequate and they hotel provided free internet access, which was nice to check in online for my flight, etc.
The hotel is right off I-271 and not much at the hotel itself. However, within walking distance is Filene's Basement and DSW. Also, Abuelo's Mexican restaurant which was very good actually.
Just up the road about 5 miles is Beachwood Place and Legacy Village - both very top-notch malls with Saks, Apple, Borders, Nordstroms and the like.
But the the best dinner to be had was about 1 mile away in an office park (!?). It is the best food in Cleveland, Giovanni's Restaurant. It's fantastic - check it out.

  • Liked — New, clean and great beds
  • Disliked — Not much on hotel site itself
