“Fun in Valley City”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

I have been at Jilberts twice. It's a very relaxed night with owner functioning as bartender who let's u taste all of wines available. After tastings, pick up the bottle or bottles u want and head upstairs to the renovated barn. There is a set menu and u r given a portion of each offering which translates into a very hearty meal! Only one dessert though!
In summer it was equally as fun on the patio. We love this place! The food is very good, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing! Can't wait to go back!

“al and chris wagner our first visit and many more after”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

my husband and i first discovered jilberts this year in the summer. we would ride past it on the motorcycle and thought that looks interesting we should stop. eventually we did stop after riding past many times. we have been back many times. my favorite time is during the summer you can sit on the patio and just have a bottle of wine and maybe an appetizer (cheese and crackers) which is great on a saturday afternoon. or there is a menu, nothing elaborate, but we have had mostly everything on the lunch menu and it's been wonderful. we've brought a few friends there with us and they liked it also. when we've gone in the summer we've met other people there and had great conversations with people we had never met before. we've been there for dinner also and the food has been great. they have music in the summer which is very entertaining and relaxing. it feels like you are away when in fact you are in your own back yard. this is our first year for the chef's table and the food has been excellent. sitting upstairs in the rustic dining room. a very relaxed atmosphere. dave and lisa are great, along with the servers hanna(?), taylor and sam this is our favorite place and we absolutely LOVE IT.

“Personal service and a relaxed evening”
Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

We went for a wine and dine at Jilbert on a Saturday night in the winter. The food, served buffet style, was excellent. The dining room was uncrowded, allowing us to talk with everyone at our big table. The wine was just okay but the prices are as low as buying a bottle at the store. Everyone in our group said they would go back. We'll try a summer night where we can sit outside.

“Light the fire, pour the wine.”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We were excited to try Mead (honey wine), and the prices are reasonable.
The service left much to be desired as it was a one man show the day we stopped. We did the tasting, then ordered a cheese tray and took it upstairs to a chilly dining area. The joke among all of us was who can figure out how to turn on the gas fireplaces? Finally the unfortunate fellow trying to run everything managed to slip upstairs and check on us, and he fiddled with the fireplace until he turned on ONE of them. After he left another patron ignited the other fireplace, and we were thrilled to move our tables next to the fireplace and warm up a bit.
Can't say I'll go back.
