“Truely Excellent”

My husband and I took my mum, who is 83 and has difficulty walking, to stay at this lovely hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, the welcome was friendly and the service was excellent. We had rooms one and two on the ground floor. Room one is well adapted for disabled so Mum had that and we were next door. No stairs, straight out or into the bar, lounge and restaurant. Mum likes to eat her main meal early in the day so we only ate in the restaurant on one evening and, of course, for breakfast but the food was always perfect. There were lovely little touches like a weather forecast was put under the door of each room in the evening ready for the next day. The garden was lit up at night and each room had a detailed resume of the local attractions compiled by the owners. The hotel was very clean and the bathrooms were newly built wet rooms. My husband and I intend to return soon to fully sample the menu and explore further than we were able to this trip. I would sincerely recommend this hotel to anyone.

A very relaxing environment for my daughter and I to have a few days of mother/daughter quality time away. Our twin room was spacious and very clean. The food excellent. The staff so attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to get away for a few days to unwind.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1 which is on the ground floor and people do walk past the windows, therefore not...

Nothing burt praise for this little gem of a hotel. Very well run and attention shown to the smallest of details. Comfortable spotless room with a view of the cows gently grazing outside.
Highly recommended for a short break in the spectacular dorset countryside.
The owner manager John is a textbook example of good service. I overheard him deal with a petty complaint (too much coriander ?!) with great finesse.
Restaurant is good albeit expensive and the set menu is geared towards English tastes (pasta as a main course?). Certainly it was one of the better places to eat in an area with little choice.

Hotel was lovely. I was in a standard room that was spacious and overlooking the countryside. Everything was really clean. A lovely peaceful retreat. Staff were excellent and helpful. Everything was relaxed. Prior to dinner you sit in the lounge with a pre dinner drink deciding what to eat. The food was of excellent quality, eaten while looking out over the floodlit gardens. Breakfast was lovely, food freshly cooked and the buffet area had a large selection. This is a lovely relaxing place, probably not suitable for children. I would certainly return.

We have just returned from our second visit to this lovely hotel, the first time 4 months ago. It is as welcoming and relaxing as before. The setting is delightful and the Dining Room in the evening overlooking the floodlit garden is perfect. Dinner is very good, with a blend of different and imaginative tastes and the staff and owner-manager are efficient, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We will certainly return before long.

Room Tip: All the rooms we have seen are of a very high standard. Quieter overlooking the garden but the nois...

Great staff who went out of their way to help. Check in was done in a warm friendly manner, with an up grade due to our loyalty card, so we were delighted with our lovely quiet room opening onto the garden. Restaurant was fabulous- worth staying here for the food! The hotel has been an old farmhouse so is set in a quiet tiny village, with green fields and beautiful gardens. It was a delightful sojourn in the country at the end of 5 weeks travel for us. My only cautionary note- don' t walk to Sherborne, take the car. It is a beautiful town and a must to visit but we were tired when we returned- it is further than the locals tell you and there is a lot of walking in order to see everything when you get there.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra for a view of the gardens and countryside.
