Oak Openings in one of my favorite parks. I've actually completed the 16+ mile hike there, and it's amazing. You feel like you've been all over the country because you've gone through a pine forest, sand dunes, a grassy meadow, and around creeks and ponds.
If you prefer to picnic there are great eating areas, and a nice playground for kids. You can also see horses on the trails there or ride bikes. Love it!

A great place to walk but look out for the ticks and mosquitoes! It is beautiful any time of year. Just remember to dress for the weather.

We went near the Mallard Lake area and enjoyed walking with our kids discovering neat things. We found two snakes sunning themselves on the rocks around the waterfall, several frogs in a couple of swampy areas near the lake, we witnessed three deer in the trees, one of our sons discovered a really cool caterpillar, and we also saw big and small fish swimming in the lake. It was a fun adventured followed-up with some fun at the playground on our way out. Had a great time!

We went to the preserve for a hike and ended up doing almost all the trails. They were very well marked and had a wide variety of micro climates . the sand dunes were very cool as were the fern areas. we saw four doe's in the high ferns and werre very happy with the facilities.
