This museum is a gem and not what you would expect in a moderate sized city like Toledo. What makes it even better it is free admission with the exception of special exhibits. The Libby family did the city an enormous act of kindness when they established the endowment that started this museum.

We always enjoy the museum. The regular collection was selected with great care and is very accessible .
The Manet exhibit was nice, but dealt only with his variations on portraiture. The director provide a great tour of the exhibit. The museum also held a primarily vocal concert related to the two current exits. This was a nice treat.

Admission to the regular collections are free, donations accepted of course. The tickets to the Manet exhibit are very reasonably priced. Also, the have a great museum shop featuring glass that Toledo is famous for.

Hurry, it closes Jan. 6. Rest of the museum has a good collection. Do go across the street to the interesting Glass Pavillion.

My wife and I traveled here on a Saturday to visit the art museum and spend a day out of the house. We are not really big art fans but do like to visit museums on occasion to enjoy things from our past. The museum is huge and has many galleries displaying art from B.C. thru modern contemporary. We would visit again if in the area. The museum does not charge admission, but it is $5.00 to get out of the parking lot(I think there are some free lots in the area)but that is nominal for being able to see a very nice art collection. Be sure to have lunch at the Museum Cafe(see review).
