“Best place to stay in Hocking Hills”

We have been staying at Valley View Cabins at least once a year since 2008. It is our favorite place to visit. They log cabins are beautiful and have everything that you will need for your stay. We count the days down every year until our next trip to Valley View!

Room Tip: The Ridgeview and Oak Valley Cabins are our favorites. The views are always spectacular!

A group of us have stayed in both the Rugby or Hillside for a number of years enjoying a girls only Scrapbooking weekend. The cabins have always been clean and impressive. Recently decorating improvements were made and the cabins look great. We could not ask for a better place to stay!

Room Tip: Be sure your car is ready for winter roads when traveling in January.

We have stayed at Valley View properties several times now and have had wonderful experiences! The cabins are very private and comfortable. We love the nearby hiking at Hocking Hills. Some of the cabins may be tough to get to in the snow, but we have been lucky with our visits overall.

My husband and I decided to take our first trip to the Hocking Hills area to take advantage of spending a cozy January weekend in a cabin in the woods. When we started researching places to stay, we were inundated with choices. After looking at several reviews and the availability of cabins on the weekend we chose to stay on (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend), we landed on Valley View Cabins. We reside in the North Canton area, so our drive down to the Sugar Grove area was roughly 2.5 hours, not too shabby and right outside of Columbus, which is a great place to stop and stock up on pretty much whatever you need for the trip. Our GPS seemed to work just fine (we use Verizon wireless) and we had no trouble finding the cabins. We checked in and got the key to the Lincoln cabin. We found out very quickly that when the owners highly recommend that you use a vehicle that has four wheel drive that you should heed their advice!! Our driveway up to the cabin was very steep and snow covered, so our SUV couldn't make it up the hill. We had a bit of a scare when we backed out to try and park at the end of the drive and instead slid into the ditch right next to the road. The owners were not able to pull us out but the very kind gentleman who came when we called AAA was able to do so with no problem. After unloading the car and still feeling a tad shaken we walked into the cabin and all of that stress melted away. The cabin was warm and bright. Soft music was left playing for us. The bundles of wood that we had ordered for the fireplace were neatly stacked on our porch. The hot tub was heated and ready to get into. Everything was pristine-it was so welcoming! We unpacked and relaxed. It was so nice to have the full kitchen so that we could make all of our own meals. There was a TV and DVD player which we didn't use (our goal for that weekend was to unplug). The hot tub is on a screened in-porch, and it was very relaxing to sit in the warm water on a cold winter's day. There were three beds in the cabin, one on the main floor and two in the loft. We slept on the main floor and the bed was so soft-we had no problems drifting off to sleep. The wrap-around porch had outdoor furniture and a gas grill, as well as a beautiful view of the surrounding woods. The top of the drive by the cabin had a fire pit with benches around it, which I'm sure we would have used if we were there in a warmer month. Much of the activities that Hocking Hills has to offer are nearby. Had we been better equipped for the weather, we would've definitely gone hiking, but the cabin was so warm and inviting, and hiking could be done right outside of our doorstep, so we never left the cabin area. The morning that we left we had gotten a couple of inches of snow the night before. The owners were very responsive when we called and expressed our concerns about being able to get up the snow covered road that led to the main road and plowed it for us, even waiting at the top of the hill to make sure we made it up safely. We were recharged after our trip and enjoyed Valley View Cabins very much. We plan to return in warmer months so that we can enjoy the area even more, but going in the winter is very still and peaceful. I would definitely heed the owner's warnings and be prepared to climb snowy hills both on foot and by vehicle-but it is worth it!!

Room Tip: The cabins are all spaced out so you are not on top of anyone. Our cabin (the Lincoln) slept 6, but...
