“FUNKY DINER”

Really nothing outstanding. Stand in line to order. Pick up food orders served in plastic baskets. Noisy and crowded at lunch time. But WOW!!, the burgers are delicious. The slices of pie (many varieties) is $2.50 for a big hunk. Lots of nostalgia and brings one back to the 1960's. I wouldn't change a thing. We will be back.

“An Icon”

The Spot is a local icon. The food is always fresh and yummy, the atmosphere takes you back to a simplier time, and the pie is to die for!

“Good food in a retro setting.”

Most everything here is homemade. The pies are great. The tenderloin is so big you have to get it on 2 buns. Former President Bush even dined there.

“The Spot is the place to be”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2011

This restaurant is a Mom and Pop type of restaurant that is historic. This restaurant was first brought to Sidney OH by a man named Spot Miller. In 1907 he opened up a "Chuck Wagon" kind of place which he set up on the very place the restaurant is still in operation today. The City refused to allow him to continue his business on wheels so he removed them and added awnings.

Later he sold this restaurant to a man whose last name was Cook and it became known as Cooks Spot. Later the interest of this restaurant was sold and a chain of "Cooks Spot" Restaurants were opened all over West Central Ohio but today only the Sidney one still stands. In 1934 a more permanent restaurant was built but it burned in 1940. The remodel of the restaurant was done its famous Neon sign is still in operation.

The restaurant has been featured on the cover of the March 1994 issue of Ohio Magazine, and by Ann Heller, food critic of the Dayton Daily News, in their Go! Section on September 27, 1996 and George Bush ate here when he campaigned in August 28, 2004.

Some of their signature pies are still favorites of many. Their Old fashioned Cream pie, pecan and strawberry are major favorites especially during holidays.
