There is not enough words to describe this stay. This place should be called Americas Bare Bones inn.My wife and child had to go next door and pick up some towels because the ones in the room were so thin and worn out that they could not be used.No coffee in the rooms and no breakfast in the lobby unless you call 2 tired plates of stale pastries and a pot of old coffee a breakfast. All doors to the place were open at all times day and night for anybody to come and go as they please.Heed this warning and go somewhere else

Room Tip: Go across the street to another hotel and pay the extra,

I am sorry that your recent stay didn't meet your expectations. This hotel is definitely geared toward the budget-friendly individual who places a premium on having a clean, comfortable, safe place to sleep. This brand is not required to have continental breakfast and/or in-room coffee; thus the price point is normally significantly below that of our competitors. We will have a discussion with our housekeeping department to ensure that old, out-dates towels are removed from our inventory--as this is NOT something that you should have experienced. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience!

I feel i may be a little unfair writing this review as i'm not a budget traveler but still feel obligated to share my experiences with travelers that have preferences similar to my own. That being said... The America's Best Value Inn is not exactly my ideal place to stay if I could help it. I was here because a friend said they could not find five rooms in Sandusky with vacancy after a day time bender at Put In Bay but this place had rooms. The hallway to the room was "moist" from what i believe was from children coming out of the pool without drying off. Open garbage bags and cans lined the hall. Upon room entry the place just felt old and dated, probably because it was. The bathrooms had mildew throughout and all the fixtures seemed like they were from 1981. The carpet was kind of crappy and sticky. My wife did not feel comfortable walking barefoot in the room. The TV was old school non-HD and as i mentioned before, just dated. The bed was lumpy, hard, and uncomfortable. The positives.... We didn't see any mice, roaches, or muskrats. Sheets appeared to be clean and had clean towels. Nothing overly bad was sighted during the stay, but just felt uncomfortable in an older budget hotel. It was not a good experience nor was it a terrible one. In conclusion if you're semi-snobby about hotels and a Fairfield or Hampton is your usual minimal acceptable standard for non-resort trips i can tell you you won't be comfortable at this place. In the hotel's defense the staff was courteous and gave the impression that they did actually care about their customers. So... If contemplating America's Best Value Inn versus a Hampton or Fairfield (or something on that level) I'd recommend to spend the extra $50-$100 on the better hotel. No hard knock to America's Best Value Inn, its just that i have not stayed in a budget hotel in the last 15 years or so and have no basis of comparison.

Thank you for sharing your recent experiences at our hotel. I'm happy to hear that the staff was friendly and helpful; I'm not so happy to hear that you didn't find the accommodations to meet (or exceed!) your expectations. We take guest comments very seriously and your comments will help us have teachable moments with our staff on our high level of expectations. You're correct in noting that this hotel is geared toward the budget-friendly consumer; however, that by no means that anyone should expect anything less than clean, comfortable, safe surroundings when being our guest. Thank you again for your contributions and your patronage!

If you are going to Ohio Bike Week, stay away from this hotel. The shower water turned from hot to cold every 10 seconds, so you can't take a comfortable shower. The fixture in the bathroom was a light bulb hanging from a socket. When my husband went for coffee in the lobby in the morning they had put out uncovered muffins that were so hard and stale you couldn't, or wouldn't want to eat them and that was all there was. We booked the hotel because of the pool and the hot weather we were having thought it would be fun to swim and relax only to find out there was no water in it! if you want better and cheaper keep looking! After riding all day, this is not a place to relax.

Thank you for rating and reviewing your recent stay with us. I must apologize for the inconveniences you experienced. As you may know, this is one of our seasonal properties and we're still prepping it for the season. Unfortunately, you stayed with us VERY early in the season and we're still working on getting everything up and running. We appreciate your comments though and hope that you'll give us another shot in the future to show you our commitment to continuous quality improvement!

Room was clean and bathroom was big and well stocked with towels, hotel is well located near freeway and within walking distance to many stores and restaurants and most of all close to cedar point amusement park.

Well, it's a hotel for someone in a budget, so you cannot expect the same service as a 4 or 5 star hotel. The room was OK, the carpet had no stains and no smell, my concern was about the beds, they were very very firm and the pillows were not very comfortable.

The major problem was the bathroom. The towels were like sandpaper and you could find stains in all of them!!!

I recommend the hotel only if you're in a budget and, even so, if you have to stay just a few days (like 1 or 2 days)!!

Thank you for taking the time to relate your recent experience with our hotel. I'm appreciative of the fact that you pointed out that we are a budget-friendly hotel. However, gritty and stained towels are unacceptable and we will do our best to remedy this situation immediately. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. I hope you'll give us another opportunity to serve your lodging needs in the future!

Came in May 2012 for Cedar Point, and was excited to hear they had a pool. When we arrived pool was a cement hole, no water and weeds growing out of it. The lobby monitor was nice but knew the hotel was horrible. We get to the room, stains on the carpet, hair in the bathroom, beds look like they made by a child , and overall was a very dirty disgusting experience. Five minutes later we walked out, got a full refund and stayed at a nearby Motel 6 and that was excellent!

First, thank you for taking the time to rate and review your recent stay with us. Second, I must apologize for the experiences you related in your review. Although this is a budget-friendly property, there's no reason to expect anything other than a clean, comfortable, safe experience. Additionally, this is a seasonal property and it looks as if you stayed pretty much RIGHT when we opened the doors for the season. We were still in the process of prepping the hotel for the season but had to open to honor reservations already in the system. Again, my apologies. I hope you treat this as an isolated incident and try us out again in the future!

I booked a king room.. When I arrived, they only had rooms with two double beds left. Working in a hotel, we would normally upgrade the guest to the next room up, but I dont believe they have any larger rooms than a standard. In this case, I was actually charged a higher price for the room because there were two beds. I was unhappy and nobody seemed to care.

I don't feel as though I should be charged more for a second bed I won't use, especially on a romantic getaway when a double size bed just made things uncomfortable.

Thank you for taking the time to rate and review your stay with us. I'm sorry that the room you received was not what you originally booked--and you are correct, the only room types that we have at this property are rooms with two double beds or rooms with king-sized beds. However, we do not charge based on the number of beds in the room.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and hope that you'll give us another opportunity to serve your lodging needs in the future!
