My friends and I stayed here for an annual trip to Cedar Point and we were disgusted with this facility. The lobby was ugly, the hotel staff was less than accomodating and the room was less than ideal. The beds were uncomfortable and I'm pretty sure they had been used for some pretty shady people.
This is the dirtiest hotel we have ever stayed in. There was a sewer smell in the first room. The front desk staff was not interested in changing rooms but we insisted. The second room had a dead cockroach in it! Makes me hesitant to ever use Priceline again.
We checked in on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at around 4 pm. After reading all of the reviews, we were a bit skeptical, but check in went fine and the clerk gave us a can of pop with the Cedar Point discount on it. We just dropped off our luggage in room 210 and headed for the park, when we arrived back to the room we changed into our pjs and pulled back the covers and much to our dismay, there were giant cookie crumbs and a tag from someone else's clothes in the bed on top of the sheet. I immediately called the front desk and the clerk brought us up new keys so that we could be moved into a new room. Room 225 was the new room and when we got in there, before the clerk left, we pulled back the covers to check the sheets and again, this time there were pubic hairs in one of the beds and hair all over the pillows in the other bed. Just disgusting, so at 2 am we were calling other hotels in the area looking for a place to lay our heads. The desk clerk was just saying that he just can't understand what happened??? What happened is that the maids in this hotel do not change the sheets from guest to guest and that is just gross!! I am not going to risk getting crabs from a skanky hotel like this. We found a room across the street in the Sleep Inn which was much nicer and offered a continental breakfast and was only $20 more than this unsanitary dump, so my advice is not to priceline a hotel in this area. I did contact priceline and let them know of my concerns and that they shouldn't offer a substandard place like this & they refunded the full price of the room. I have pricelined hotels before in other areas and had no problem, but this place is just dirty and nasty!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!
When we booked we thought we had found the perfect value.
When we got there we realized why it was so inexpensive compared to all the others around town.
The hotel smelled like a musky dive.
Our room was picked up but definitely not "cleaned" .
There were remnants of the people who stayed there before us.
spiders were found in the bed.
We were promised a crip for our 18 month old. I called the day before just to make sure. I called the morning of just to doubly make sure. and... There were no cribs available. The hotel manager / clerk / maintenance man Yes just one old guy running the whole show, he was a nervous wreck. He suggested we put our baby on the floor with some blankets. After seeing how unsanitary this place was, we decided to just leave. My wife and 3 kids sat on the bed as I drove from one hotel to the next (there's a dozen all in a row there) till I finally found one twenty bucks more a night and it was brand new. whew! we then had a great 2 night mini Cedar Point vacation.
We booked this hotel on the day as the Holidome that was that is opposite was such a hell hole! This was much better and although a little old was clean. The pool was not heated but it was so hot it was nice to cool down. The pool would appreciate a repaint though as it had large cracks in it. The location was good across the road from shops and restaurants. The halls were a bit dirty and had a bra that kept travelling up and down hanging from various doorknobs(?) bit odd but didn't really bother us. We ate in the Outback Steakhouse down the road one night which we walked to in about 10 mins (we are English!) then another night we ate in the hotel restaurant which was delicious. The onion rings were massive and we were so full up after the appetizers we didn't have main courses! The beers were really cheap too and served in frosted glasses. The hotel has cans of pepsi behind the front desk that have coupons on them for Cedar point, i think it was $8 off each. It's best to drink these before you get to Cedar point as they keep them at the front gate even if they are full. The courtesy bus was okay but we got there at 9am to ensure a seat and it didn't turn up until 10.15. If you are in Sandusky go to the Haunted House at the roller rink it was sooooo scary!
We spent the day at cedar point yesterday 9-1-07 and went to the hotel to check in around 6:00 pm.. We checked in our room and were immediately disgusted! Our comforter had what looked like urine stains, there was not a fitted sheet for the mattress rather 2 layers of sheets (so if you sat on the bed the sheets would move and you would just lay on the nasty mattress.. The sheets and blanket looked gross and there were what looked like blood stains on the pillow cases. The room overall felt dirty and the bathroom was gross too.. We went to the front desk and the guy said he's never heard complaints like that... So I just asked if we could get our money back and not even stay.. We went to dinner and then drove a little over 2 hrs home.. I'm glad we saved the $70.00.. Seriously this place is DISGUSTING!
