“Trip to Cedar Point”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

This was our first trip to Cedar Point and booked here for the early entry to the park. Check in was quick and easy, we got our wrist bands for the water park, breakfast tickets, park and parking passes. We stayed in a Tarpon Suite which was perfect for our family. Breakfast was ok but did not change from day to day. Would have liked a bit more variety. I found the room dark however, could have used more or better lighting. Also there were not enough power outlets for the family to charge all of our gadgets. We enjoyed the water park and it was nice to be able to relax in the hot tub.

My family would like to stay here again but I don't know if we would do the breakfast again since I thought it was expensive for what was offered.

This was our third visit. The the waterpark was plenty fun for our 4 kids who range from 2 to 9 years in age. The life guards were good in the mornings but not so watchful by 9pm. We stayed in the Flamingo Suite for two nights. The space was large enough but our view was a roof top and a wall of another building and only one small bath. For the money and from our past experience, we would get two rooms facing the bay next time. Take care in the hot tub, wave pool and water slide landing areas, they are a little worn and abrasive.

Great place to spend time with the kids. The room was fairly clean and friendly. The only thing I did not like was a highly overpriced breakfast. For this money we could have gotten much better food. The waitress's were very nice though. We would for sure go again

Room Tip: Get a room with a bay view

quick check in on Saturday. Very decorative and kids love the water park. gift shop had great prices and choices of namebrand items. Many places to eat on property. We had full entertainment Saturday with waterpark and arcade. Mall was 5 minutes from resort and was nice to do a little shopping. Close to everything. Beautiful view on the water. Resort is nice and rooms are clean (nice them decorations). We had quick checkout and early entry to Cedar Point. Kids definitely want to stay here again.

We have finished up our trip to castaway bay today so figured I would write this while it is fresh. This is our third indoor water park resort. We have stayed at the great wolf lodge in both the Poconos PA and in Niagara Falls Canada. We anticipated about the same, Well don't!

Size wise the water park has to be about 1/3 the size of great wolf. There is only one ride where you sit in a tube. There are 3 slide that you lay down on your back and there are several slides for the kiddies. They have a wave pool but because it is small the waves get rough and not enjoyable to fight. There is a pool with larger floating sea creatures and a pool where you walk across floating planks using a cargo net hanging above the pool. A hot tub spa pool that goes outside. Lastly a splash lagoon for the really small kids and the play structure.

Now the park is fun, but if you are planning on spending more than a day there figure out other plans. We arrived there at 3 and were ready to go by 7. Even our 5 yr old who we usually can't get to leave dried herself off and told us she was ready to go. All in all it's an ok place but nothing extraordinary.

The arcade.......What a giant ripoff. First they charge you 1.00 just to get the card you need to play the games. Then most of the games are 4 credits to play even the kiddie games are 2 credits. I bought 2 cards and put 20.00 per card and that lasted 20 min. There are much better ways I can think of to spend 2.00 A MINUET. If you go be prepared it will cost you!!!!!

Now to the room......

First I was not expecting the Hyatt Regency so the room met its need a place to sleep and recoup from the days activities. The bathroom is a decent size there is a flat screen TV the micro fridge and microwave work and the screened in porch was nice. But......... These beds are god awful!!!!!! My youngest daughter is all of 50lbs and she was the first one to get on a bed and I thought she broke it because of the sounds that emitted from it when she flopped down on it the first time. My wife then sat down and the squeaks and groans the bed emitted were even worse. If you are a still sleeper then you should be fine but if you move the smallest amount in your sleep everyone else's will know the second you do. I understand changing mattresses out in a hotel of this size can be expensive, but DO IT!!!!!! These beds just suck!!!! The only one who didn't wake up with a sore back of shoulders was our daughter who had the roll away.

Conclusion:
We stayed for 2 nights and purchased a 1 day pass to cedar point with our package. So the free parking the discounted ticket price the early admission and the water park all add up to a value we were happy with. If a good night sleep is priceless to you though don't stay here. We will try somewhere else if we decided to come back. We all had fun as a family though and that is what mattered most to us.

The parking pass, discount tickets and early park entry were the big sellers. The room was ok the balcony was a plus. Didn't realize the fridge was broken until the morning. Waterpark offered relaxation after a long drive. The tube ride was cool. Overall a positive experience.

Spent the weekend at Castaway Bay. Nice location for access to Cedar Point. Free parking passes for the two days which saved 30 bucks. The included breakfast was quite nice. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Kids really enjoyed the water park. All went well until it was bed time. We have a 14 year old and a 11 year old. The beds
became a real joke with how bad they were. I have never in my life heard a bed squeak like that. The ditches in the beds were unreal. Squeak Squeak Squeak. Wow I can't believe they have not replaced these things. I looked under the beds as one does when packing up to leave to ensure we left nothing behind and one of the frames was actually broken and wedged into the floor. All in all we enjoyed ourselves. We would return.... Only if they replaced the beds.
