Cedar Point's Castaway Bay
Ranked #11 of 35 Hotels in Sandusky

The parking pass, discount tickets and early park entry were the big sellers. The room was ok the balcony was a plus. Didn't realize the fridge was broken until the morning. Waterpark offered relaxation after a long drive. The tube ride was cool. Overall a positive experience.

Spent the weekend at Castaway Bay. Nice location for access to Cedar Point. Free parking passes for the two days which saved 30 bucks. The included breakfast was quite nice. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Kids really enjoyed the water park. All went well until it was bed time. We have a 14 year old and a 11 year old. The beds
became a real joke with how bad they were. I have never in my life heard a bed squeak like that. The ditches in the beds were unreal. Squeak Squeak Squeak. Wow I can't believe they have not replaced these things. I looked under the beds as one does when packing up to leave to ensure we left nothing behind and one of the frames was actually broken and wedged into the floor. All in all we enjoyed ourselves. We would return.... Only if they replaced the beds.

Rooms are on the small side and out dated. I would compare them to an average motel room.
Waterpark is great for younger kids, however, the life guards are less than friendly, sometimes downright rude and clearly do not like their jobs. Smiles, good attitude and offering help would go a LONG way. End of the night, they kept taking our unused towels that were sitting on the table, and took our room key in the process.
Front desk was pleasant and helpful.
One of their restaurants was closed and had a sign saying TGIFridays was open until mid-night....it was not. We got there at 10:15 just after the waterpark closed, and were turned away. Their cafeteria style food is overpriced and average at best.
Location is nice being close to Cedar Point, and you get discount tickets and early entry to the park which is a bonus.

Room Tip: I would not go tot his hotel for the rooms

This was our third year to stay at Castaway Bay. Two adults and we stayed a week. During our stay, there were positive and negative experiences. Positive: staff were very nice and helpful, easy checkin, balcony had two chairs, early entry to Cedar Point, indoor water park, free parking permit for Cedar Point, close to shopping areas and downtown Sandusky. Negative: beds were creaky; bathroom was clean, but had some drawbacks - bathtub drained very, very slowly and shower didn't work; balcony was very dirty and screen torn; microwave very low power. Be prepared to have people slamming doors all hours and kids running up and down the hallway. Gameroom costly and unless you are 9 years of age or less, the prize selections were very poor. It would have been nice if there were Castaway Bay items - ie. shot glasses, hats (similar items in gift shop) or other adult selections. The past two years, the game room had a better selection. Don't waste your money, unless you like "Hello Kitty" items. TGIF Restaurant next door - very costly. Bathing suit dress code - there is none. Be prepared to "see it all".

Room Tip: Third floor - front rooms (overlooking front parking lot). Avoid bay view - constant spider webs on...

For what we paid we should have gotten better service. Stayed here 2 nights to take our kids to the Indoor water park, after a long day at Cedar Point. Checked in after 10:00 pm on a Thursday night. Hadn't eaten since lunch, decided to go eat at Friday's attached to the hotel. What a disappointment, the food was okay but not hot, the service was okay the waitress said they were owned by Cedar Point so they didn't offer the same things as the other Friday's restaurants and that they were higher priced than the other Friday's too. What a shock after not wanting to pay for food at the park, which I think $10.95 for a hot dog and fries and no drink at Cedar Point was expensive! Bring a cooler pack it with lunch for the park and when you are hungry go to the car it is much cheaper! After eating at Friday's we went to the room and went to bed, the beds were the WORST I have ever slept on.They were double beds not enough room for 2 adults. Anytime you moved the beds creaked like someone was opening an old door, you could never move with waking someone up. It was terrible. The pillows were flatter than a pancake and they only gave you one, and it was not comfortable. We went to the water park the next day expecting our room to be cleaned, we were gone for about 5 to 6 hours came back to the room and found that our room had not been touched. Called the front desk and asked if they usually cleaned the rooms every day. They told me that for more than one night stay they did not make the beds but the other items should have been taking care of. I had to tell them nothing had been done, they said they would send housekeeping supervisor to our room. Once she did arrive she asked if towels or trash had been changed, it had not been touched I told her. She said she would get us new towels and get our trash After that disappointment we went somewhere to eat. On the good side when we returned to our room the beds were made and we had more towels and toiletries which made us feel a little better. The rooms were big and each room had a screened in porch with 2 chairs it was a nice touch. The water park was clean and well maintained. It also has a water coaster in it, my kids had a blast riding it. There are 3 slides on one side of the park and a wave pool on the other side. it also has a kiddie pool for the little ones and a pool to play basketball and play on floating animals, there is also a big bucket that dumps water every 5 to 10 mins with 4 slides attached to it in different places. It was a fun park. Hotel ugh, frustrating!

Room Tip: Try to get rooms with queen size beds double beds a way too small for 2 adults. Double beds are crea...

We received day passes for free, so we decided to check this place out. Our 4 year old had fun and spent 5 hours in the waterpark. He would've spent more time there had we let him. It was not crowded at all on a Thursday after some kids probably already went back to school. Day passes are normally $29...not sure we would go back at this price. If you need a hotel with this waterpark in it I think it would be worth the cost if you have young kids. The only thing that really irked my husband was that the cleaning woman came into the men's bathroom when he and my son were showering/getting dressed. He
was shocked to say the least. If you are looking for a really good place to eat in the area skip the restaurants and head to a kid friendly placed called brick oven bistro. The food there was excellent, and it is reasonably priced!

This is our second time here and both times the staff are very unfriendly. The front desk was rude when we checked in. It was like we were bothering them checking in. We went to the water park the next morning. The lady checking our wrist bands didn't even say a word to us. The young girl at the slides scared our daughter every time. She thought she was being funny by putting her sunglasses on a getting right in my daughters face. In the arcade the new "e tickets" are very confusing and the staff was annoyed that we didn't know how much tickets we had. Instead of helping us! The staff seems very unhappy to be there. Housekeeping was the only friendly people. However we had 2 used bottles of lotions in the bathroom.
