“Very Impressed”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

I've been to several family oriented places and while the kids have fun they are usually not very nice places to stay, Kalahari surprised me. The customer service was awesome. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Everything worked and looked nice. From the public areas to the rooms every things was very nice.

We stayed for 2 nights. This was just long enough. The kids had a great time but were ready to go home. They road almost every ride and had an awesome time. The park was less crowded in the early morning and late evening so that was the best times to be in the park. We were able to leave belongings like towels, shoes and eyeglasses in one place and find them there when we came back.

The Monsoon Saloon had great service and seemed to be the best place in the park to get food and drinks even if you were not getting alcoholic beverages.

The holiday brunch was very tasty and had lots to choose from.

We ate at the Great Karoo one evening and while you could get in an eat quickly the food was pretty much buffet food. Some of it was good, some of it wasn't. The kids did enjoy the chocolate fountain.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Nomad room. It was very spacious, most hotels have close to the same setup but it...

Be prepared to pay this place is fun for a day but it looses it luster after that, when you pay that much for a room and they still charge you till you bleed for food drinks and games it's over the top in my book it will be the last time for our family sorry to say..

Thank you for taking a moment to share your thoughts. While I'm glad to hear you had fun for the first day, I am discouraged to hear that you did not find value in the rest of your stay. I will be sure to pass this along. We do have some more inclusive style packages that might be fitting for you and your family. If you need assistance taking a peek at those, please don't hesitate to let us know. We are more than happy to assist. Thank you for your time and I remain in hopes that we can see you in the future.

For the last 4 years the Conley/Hawkins families have held our Winter Family Reunion at Kalahari. The experience is awesome! The staff and employees are remarkable. They were friendly and appear to be employees who enjoy their work. We had a member of the Housekeeping staff who went out of his way during our 4 day stay to make us comfortable. His name is Erdis. He was courteous and helpful. From arrival to departure our stay was pleasant!

The hotel room was the best room I have ever stayed in..ever. Great bedding..clean..even had a fireplace and a balcony. I have only three complaints..minor. One....I specifically asked when making reservations if I could wear swim goggles as I wear contacts. They repeatedly said yes...the real answer is NO. They would NOT let me wear them and as a result I nearly lost my left lense. So..it was the hot tub for me. The hot tub was not hot..it was like bath water temp and little kids were allowed to kick and splash and well..u get it. Third...anytime we called the desk..they were somewhat rude and would abruptly hang up..no good byes nothing. Other than that...we all had a lovely time. The zoo out bk is ok..not worth five dollars each admission..and we def did not pay 25.00 for a lg cool whip sized bucket of corn on cob and a few crackers to feed the animals...tht price is just...ridiculous. But...would we do it again.....sure. The room alone was worth the trip. Plus there was lots to do..something for everyone. Anddd the hand dipped candy...was to DIE for...mmmm!!

Room Tip: There were five of us...three adults and two older kids. We chose the nomad rm. Had micro..fridge..f...

I am happy that you all had a wonderful trip to Kalahari. I apologize about the confusion on our goggles policy, the hot tub scenario, and the attitude toward your phone calls. That is not how we roll here at Kalahari Resorts. On the flip side, I am thrilled to hear you enjoyed your room and that you would stay with us again. Thank you for the review and Happy New Year!

If you enjoy waterparks, hot tubs, wave pools, lazy rivers, and water slides and themed hotel rooms, you're going to love the world's largest indoor waterpark. Winter woes fade away inside this mega-mega facility. There are so many things to see and do inside the waterpark itself - swimming, riding an inner tube, surfing, basketball, lounging, dip n dots, and much, much more. You don't need to leave the premises for multiple dining choices, just select one of their restaurants and relax. The hotel rooms are African-themed, attractively decorated, clean and cozy. We have been to Kalahari five (5) times now and the majority of the family enjoys it immensely. There are only two negatives - the park is soooo large that our feet get sore from walking around the entire facility (grin) and if you go on a very cold, wintery day, wear earmuffs to lounge in the hot tubs as they are both outdoors (yeow)! We would definitely go again! Thanks, Kalahari owners and employees!

Room Tip: If you are traveling with a large family, they have rooms that hold up to 12 people and they are out...

Visited 12/22 - 12/23. Since it wasn't a super long trip we were only able to visit a portion of what the resort had to offer, but the food was good all around - I was pleasantly surprised with the quality at the grill in the water park; and the prices are extremely reasonable. You don't get gouged as you sometimes can as a captive diner in a resort.

Most of the staff was really friendly with the exception of a few watermark employees (florider 12/23 Am) who seemed to hate their lives. Rooms were very nice, went with a group & we had 3 adjoining rooms in the Sands portion - middle room had LR & Kitchen, so made for great layout where everyone had their space but could easily be together as well. Pictures on the wall were awesome, but housekeeping seems to not often get under chairs/couches.... There seemed a landfills worth of wrappers & crumbs. I'm sure they would have come & taken care of that had we asked but it was late by the time we noticed & didn't really want to bother with it since we we're only there for a night.

Oh and the watermark is pretty awesome - though the chlorine levels kinda made my eyes burn without even being in the water. Probably best with all the people in/out of the water though!

This is a nice resort and the waterpark has a lot of fun rides, but the lack of control by the staff in the waterpark creates a sense of lawlessness. Every time we would get in line somebody would try and push their way past us to say they were catching up with the rest of their group.

Four people from our group got in a line ahead of the rest of us and there were several people between us before the remaining four got in line. We wanted to ride together but didn't want to be rude, so the four in front let all the people between us go ahead of them until we were all together. As soon as we did that some more people that were with the group ahead of us came up and tried to push their way through us to get with their friends. We said they would have to ask their friends to come back to them, just like we had just finished doing. They tried to confront and intimidate us by swearing and cussing at us for the rest of the wait.

As soon as we got to the top of the ride I told the operator what had been going on and she called to have someone meet us at the bottom of the ride. Someone met us and listened to our story before calling for a supervisor. The supervisor did nothing and allowed the unruly and rude people to go back out and try to ruin some other peoples vacations. I guess it's okay to tell someone to go to Hell in front of a bunch of children in the Kalahari waterpark.

Either be ready to get run over by rude people in the lines or take care of it yourself. The waterpark staff doesn't care enough to try and curb any of the bad behavior!

Thank you so much for coming to visit us and taking a moment to review us. I am so sorry to hear about your experience with our other guests. Much like yourselves, we have amazing guests, but I am so sorry to hear of this instance where that was not the case. I am very sorry this ruined your getaway. I will be sure to connect with our team in the waterpark to discuss our zero tolerance rules. Certainly be my pleasure to share your thoughts. Thank you so much for your time! I do remain in hopes of seeing you again!
