“Great time at GWL”
Reviewed September 24, 2006

We will definitely return to the Great Wolf Lodge. All the staff was very nice and friendly. I took my just turned 2 y.o. and my almost 4 y.o. and it was perfect for them. We went in the slow time after school had started so it was nice and empty for my little ones to have the run of the place. Neither of my kids can swim, but there was plenty to do and there were plenty of lifeguards too.

Didn't try the Gitchigoomie grill, but the Lumberjack's was great for breakfast and not that bad a price since both my kids ate free.

Price was excellent. Since it was slow season I paid $114 a night. When I checked in I got a free upgrade to the Kid Cabin Suite and you didn't have to special request it.

I just wish I'd gone here instead of the beach last year.

Great Wolf does not allow day pass. I was concerned about strange people(non guests) being there with my children. Today we can't be too careful!
The hotel is well managed and we loved the food,, prices are great and the concept this is for children no smoky bars with our children eating. etc.
The waterpark was great for our children lifeguards are pros that truly watch the safety. The water was clean and warm as it should be. Our oldest had a blast in Waterpark and can't wait to return next school break.

The rooms are wonderful and close to all activies. Parking is easy and no long walks to check-in to hotel. We were more than pleased with all aspects of the resort. We will come again!
As far as we are concerned this is the finest waterpark in area. Professionally trained staff and management made this hotel a pleasure to stay at. Bravo!

This is the best place to stay and have alot of fun! We have stayed at Great Wolf twice now. We stayed in one of the Kids Suites. We have a teenager and 8 year old. The room was very clean and love the fact that they have a separate area for the kids with their own tv. Of course, we didn't stay in the room too long...we had to get wet! We checked in, got on our bathing suits and hit the waterpark. The slides are great and the bucket that dumps thousands of gallons of water on you is fun. The bell would ring and you would see dozens of kids (and adults too LOL) running to have the bucket dump on them them. We did it, too! It was raining outside for a little while but we were indoors and didn't really care! When it stopped raining we went outside for a swim in the outdoor pool. We ate at the restaurants...good service. My daughter enjoyed the scheduled recreational activities...she made a tshirt with GWL logo on it with fabric markers. The activity staff spent time talking with her and even helped her create a "cool" tshirt by cutting slits in the tshirt arms and then tying them in knots......she wears it all the time.
There is a Meijer next door and we got snacks, pop, etc. to keep in the room. There is plenty to do at GWL that we never left other than to go to the store and out to eat for supper. GWL is located minutes from Lake Erie and Cedar Point.

  • Liked — nice rooms and great waterpark
  • Disliked — could not stay longer
  • Tips/Secrets — When we checked out, we put our luggage in the car and went back into the waterpark and stayed until it closed. You are allowed to do this!

Nice Break for the kids for one night......didnt do the food at the hotel as the area has other choices.........Water Park was not very crowded.....and admission limited to guests.......Rooms were good, but I think this hotel would be in contention for the worlds smallest bathrooms......not too much of a worry however as there is a separate sink and counter area outside the bathroom which is very convenient.........Good choice would do it again!

This was our second trip to Great Wolf this summer and our fifth stay overall. We love the waterpark and the theme of the hotel. We stayed for two nights this trip and my kids still didn't want to leave!!!! The breakfast buffet at Lumberjacks was great and there was so much to choose from. I would suggest bringing your own snacks for the waterpark though, the snack bar is expensive and when you stay for three days that can break the bank!!! The only problems we encountered during this stay were that someone pulled the fire alarm at 11:00 pm and there were "very active" children above us who were constantly stomping and running across the floor. The front desk took care of it right away. The staff is wonderful here-they even have an on site staff member who photographs around the park-she even offers to take family photos with your own camera-we got a great one by the fireplace. We have been to all 3 Sandusky waterparks and this one is our favorite. Our children are 9 & 11. They have a huge pool and one side is sectioned off with basketball hoops. Great hot tubs, water slides, lazy river and treehouse!!!!

  • Liked — Everything was great
  • Disliked — No negative aspects
  • Tips/Secrets — Bring snacks!!!!

We were very disappointed in our stay at this hotel. We had expected the rooms to be a bit larger and more comfortable. I think the bed we slept in and the bedding were as old as the hotel. We had a Kid Cabin which had a king size bed and then a walled off area with a bunk bed and a twin size bed. Prior to arriving, I had contacted the hotel as to the size of the beds as we were travelling with 2 teenagers. I was assured they were big enough. They turned out to be very small and the bedding was ridiculous. I think the were trying to simulate an old fashioned cowboy roll as all the bedding was were two sheets sewn together at the bottom and a very small, smelly, itchy wool blanket. None of these sheets stayed on the bed and the matress is covered in heavy nylon which was very uncomfortable. I asked for the beds to be made with regular sheets but they did not do this. The room is very small, the wallpaper is peeling off the walls, it smelled and the balconies were tiny and dirty. The water park is geared towards little kids so we did not enjoy to the fullest. The only fun thing for teens was a rock climbing wall in the water but that was an extra fee of $5 for a 10 foot climb. We did eat one meal in the hotel restaurant and it was excellent and great value. The portions were generous and the prices good. The staff in the restaurant were great. We feel for the price we paid, it was very disappointing. If you are paying $250 a night, you should get nice beds and clean sheets. This hotel is way overpriced. You are better off to stay at a newer hotel on the strip and pay the admission fee to the waterpark if you really want to go.

We had a family get together of people from ages 2 to 69 staying for three nights. We just loved it. It rained the first two days we were there and this was perfect for the bad weather we had.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The housekeeper we had told me about shopping in the area and got extra pillows and blankets we asked for right away. We even thought we lost the remote control to the kids room and they had no problems replacing it with a new one. When we ended up finding it, they were very kind to a i feel stupid mom.
The one great part about staying at this place compared to kalahari was the resteraunts close by. Steak and shake was right next door and we got breakfast for $1.99 several mornings. Their is also a Perkins right by and you can go to meijer if you forgot anything. There is also a mall across the street we walked over to to spend some time. So you need not even have to drive if you choose.
I admit the waterpark is geared more for little kids than teenagers. My teenage children had fun but not as much fun as the younger ones. The five year olds could have played all day there and they cried when we made them leave.
This was our first experince with a water park and we left with a very positive attitude. Would highly recommend staying here.
