“Decent place to stay, but overpriced”
Reviewed August 6, 2010

Nice hotel not too far from Cedar Point (but many are closer). We checked in about 4 o'clock and they still had rooms that were not clean/available. We've stayed in many Fairfield Inns and they are pretty similar in terms of room layout, amenities, etc. Breakfast was decent/average. We were able to stay for free (Marriott's Rewards points) but I definitely would not have paid the $180 (+fees) the room normally cost. Service was good but somewhat overwhelmed (the place was full).

I've stayed in many hotels for business and pleasure. The best attribute of this hotel is it's location to Cedar Point and Kalahari. After enjoying a day of fun with the family, this average hotel is a great place to crash rather than driving home. I found the staff to be helpful, but with the heavy traffic in the summer, they were running around to try to help everyone with towels, pillows, room issues, etc. The kids love the pool and breakfast choices that are all included, which is nice with a family of 5. We've stayed every year at this hotel because it typically meets the standards for quality and value I expect versus staying at the cheapest hotel. The rooms could use renovation as they are dated and worn.

On our latest visit to this hotel, we checked in late after a long day at the park. It was very obvious the previous guest smoked heavily in the room. There were not many options offered to us by the staff as all rooms were taken. They did spray the room, which helped temporally. That night my family had a hard time sleeping with the smell. I hope the hotel collected on the no smoking fine, because in the morning when I spoke to the district manager, they did state they would do something for us for the inconvenience.

All in all, a good hotel, I will stay again next summer, but will be sure to check in earlier!

After days of research, our family settled on the Fairfield Inn. We couldn't have made a better choice. It is located just far enough away from Cedar point to avoid some of the crowds, but close enough (10-15 minute drive). The hotel was clean, the staff very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was better that the usual fare, many choices. Plenty of parking and close to the turnpike so you can get to the rock hall of fame (60 minutes). Only drawback, double beds. But that seems to be the case with the properties in the area.

needed a place to stay while we went to cedar point. got in late sunday night, stayed monday night after park visit. the hotel staff was over-the-top nice - very cordial, pleasant and seemed genuinely interested in me as i checked in - asked me how my travels were, how i was feeling, where i came from, was i going to CP, etc. it was nice to have a warm conversation after a long day traveling alone. the hotel was busy, obviously, due to the close proximity to CP but it wasn't ridiculously noisy. not a lot of complaints, just concerns, such as: with housekeeping - our room was clean-ish, bathroom was clean, but there were clumps of hair (?) and obvious food crumbs between the night stand and the bed on both sides(!) and there was something "stuck" to the desktop, like something spilled and it didn't get wiped clean, that was almost a dealbreaker for me. quite shocked that it went unnoticed by the cleaners, it was THAT obvious, but i knew the hotel was sold out, so i just wiped down the whole place with my anti-bacterial wipes (that i always bring when traveling.) we booked 2 double beds with a sofa sleeper - those are the "twin" size double beds, very small-ish, my husband is 6'4" and even he noticed the bed was unusually small. another concern was with the free continental breakfast. if you're planning on eating there, you have to get down to breakfast early, like when it opens (6:30am). otherwise you'll miss out. it was so busy, the line up was down the hall into the lobby - and then they ran out of food and time. if this is important to you, plan ahead - or - just plan on going to bob evans, perkins or cracker barrel down the road. was surprised they had no brochures on cedar point at the front desk (CP marketing would be wise to supply hotels with these.) for the business traveler, the "business center" is one computer in the lobby, usually surrounded by 5 or 6 teenage girls checking facebook the whole time, so keep that in mind. huge improvement for guests would be automatic entrance doors - i was alone, had a huge luggage cart and had to maneuver that while struggling to open two sets of doors to the lobby - super shocked the doors weren't automatic. would i stay here again? absolutely, simply due to the location, pricing was better than most closer to CP and the staff was nice. if anyone from the company reads this, just make sure housekeeping checks over the whole room before they leave; add more staff, food and another hour to the continental breakfast; re-do the front vestibule area making the entrance with automatic doors and you'll have a gem of a place to stay.

Arrived after 10pm after closing the amusement park to find I did not get the room I reserved. Went down for a late breakfast in the morning to find they were out of most choices and since breakfast ended in the next half hour they weren't bringing anything else out. Knock on the door at 9am from housekeeping wondering if I was checking out soon, they knocked again at 10 and 11 - checkout time was noon. If you can find a room closer to the park it is deffinitely not worth the drive for the experience.

This was my first time to stay at a Fairfield Inn and Suites. It is very convenient to Cedar Point amusement park. It is not over priced like the hotels in the park or teh ones closer to the park . For a good nights rest, it was Good, clean with a very friendly staff, that was also very accommodating. Nice to have breakfast as well, a tip for breakfast...cedar point opens at 10am, breakfast was packed so everyone could leave to get to the park at 10am...so eat early and you won't have to stand in line for a hot waffle! If you are there to go to Cedar Point from open to close this is a very good valued hotel and it is easy on the bank account, when you compare others in Sandusky!

My husband and I stayed at the Fairfield Inn during our recent trip to Cedar Point. The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from the park which was perfect. We received a free upgrade to a hot tub room for being Marriott Gold members which was a great treat! We enjoyed the free breakfast, cleanliness of the room, and sound proofing of the room. We didn't hear any other guests (even though the hotel was sold out) so it was nice to get a great night's sleep.
