This is really a worth while museum to visit for an hour or two. The museum itself is inside the old Post Office in beautiful downtown Sandusky, OH. The building itself is on the National Register of Historic Places and is across the street from some beautiful city parks that has a large fountain and large topiary clock.
The museum has a working WurliTzer 153 and 105 band organs as well as a working Allen Herschel carousel from the 1920's. The carousel is populated with a menagerie of animals that were made on site or that were bought by the museum and restored on site.
The museum also features traveling exibits. This years (2011) was called "Gone Wild" which features animals from all different makes and carousel classes. They also have two horses from the Euclid Beach Carousel which is currently being restored. It is a guided tour that's led by volunteers that are very knowledgable about the carousel industry. You also get a free ride on the afore mentioned Allen Herschel Carousel while the WurliTzer 105 band organ plays.
