If you are willing to spend a bit more money, staying on grounds is real convenient. Particularly if the teenagers wear out the parents who can retreat to the hotel for a few hours. You get 1 hour early entry, which helps you avoid real long lines, at least until the general public arrives.

We had beautiful accommodations. They had many shuttles to the park. The hotel was great. It was VERY clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. Except for the price of the fast passes, (u couldn't ride without them or u would wait 2 or more hrs without them), they added $500.00 to our vacation. I would DEFINATELY tell my friends to go and stay @ Sand castle suites. Thanks for the good time. Terrie from NY

We checked in at the Sandcastle Suites on Sunday, July 14, 2013 and checked out on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. This was our first trip to Cedar Point. The Sandcastle Suites staff were extemely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had a nice view of Lake Erie. Cedar Point amusement park was a short walk from the hotel. The pool was very nice and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone.

Sandcastle Suites is a decent hotel, one of its perks is being on property of Cedar Point, allowing you to get early admission to Cedar Point. It's the farthest hotel, so if you can't get a shuttle ride, which we couldn't at peak times, you're going to do A LOT of walking! The room was decent with the beds being separated from the living room and each room had a flat screen TV. Balcony was also screened in, which was nice due to the large lake bugs. We did not visit the pool here but it looked nice, there is beach access from here but no lifeguards. Being on Cedar Point also means you are going to pay a lot, 3 nights with a 2 day ride n slide pkg Sat to Tues was 1200 bucks

Room Tip: If you want to stay on property I would stay here.

Thank you for staying with us. While the beach is accessible from Sandcastle Suites, swimming is only allowed in guarded areas.

Called ahead as we were traveling with a 7mo old to find out if we could check in early. After being assured we could we planned our trip times. Arrived & room not ready. Dropped fam off at the park & went to the store. Several hours later called & still no room, woman very breezily said "It's not our policy to do early check-in. Sorry you were given wrong information. See you at 4." Talked with a manager and he did find us a room that was ready.

Took the elevator up to the third floor, hallways were very hot. Got to the room and the cardkeys didn't work. QUinn in housekeeping couldn't get his to work either. He called for someone to come up since I had all of our stuff there and was carrying a baby. 10 min later after I called down again, Quinn checked on us and physically went down to find someone to help us. The manager arrived with new cardkeys a few min after that. 10 min is a long time to sit in a hot hallway (hot enough that the baby & I both were dripping sweat off of our heads).

Got the stuff in the room, walked over to the couch to pick up something & cut my foot on the staples that were sticking out from the bottom of the couch. I don;t think I have ever lost blood during a hotel stay. Called down & asked maintenance to come up and take care of them. When he arrived (with the manager) he handed me a few bandaids and tried to make a joke that he would buy me some bandaids. Really not amused. The ice buckets say Cedar Point Resort. I let the manager know this had not been a resort experience by any stretch. I've been to resorts and this is NOT that kind of establishment.

Thought I would make the best of it and sit on the screened in balcony with the baby. Walked out only to find it smelled horrible & the exhaust from the a/c was blowing directly onto that area. Nice sauna effect.

The fam came back from the park in the evening and headed to the pool. They promptly returned to the room because of all the bugs in the pool.

Settled down to get some work done on the computer in the evening only to find the wi-fi was down. Called the front desk to be told IT would be working on it. When I asked if there was an estimated time that it would be repaired, I was told it was at her discretion.

Beds were uncomfortable and pillows were like pancakes. Could not wait for morning to come. We were packed up & out by 8am.

Other than Quinn in housekeeping, the staff seemed like they were just putting in their hours and not proactive at all.

As I was going down on the elevator the day we checked in, there was another lady who was shaking her head. She said "I gotta get out of here!"

Definitely THE worst hotel experience I have ever had!

Our family of 6 stayed at the Sandcastle Suites on July 10th, 2013. On my previous visits to Cedar Point, I stayed at the Breakers Express, which is a dump compared to the Sandcastle Suites. I looked at getting a couple of rooms at the Express, but found that it would be less expensive to stay at the Suites. The best part about the Suites is the location ... we could see the Magnum XL-200 roller coaster from our room. By staying here, we got discounted tickets and early entry, which is a must during the busy season. You'll get sticker shock at the price of the room, but when you factor in the discounted tickets, free parking and early entry, it makes it bearable. We were able to use a side entrance and ran straight to Millenium Force, and were able to ride it twice in succession, then ran to Top Thrill Dragster and rode it four times in a row. All this in the first hour (Top Thrill Dragster was unexpectedly opened early as well). My kids loved the pool, and when it got crowded and hot at the park, they came back for a swim. The "hot" tub was lukewarm ... they need to crank the temperature up. We took the shuttle to the park, which was handy. And you can keep your car in their parking lot even after you've checked out. The room itself is nothing special, but it fit all 6 of us, and had great benefits to staying there.

Was very worried after booking then reading some of the poor reviews. Afterr arriving I was very relieved. The room and all areas were very clean. The pool area was immaculate. No problems with bugs in hallway etc... Location is very convenient... an easy walk to Soak City and Cedar Point if yu don't want to use the shuttle. The lake and beah area is dirty...it's Lake Erie it's always dirty. Overall our stay was excellent.

Room Tip: Lake view or lake/pool view is excellent.
