“The Gembarski's Family Getaway”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

My family and I recently stayed at Pine Lake Lodge. We loved the stay and plan on returning in the summer.

The staff was so accomidating and our room was very clean and comfortable. My daughters LOVED the king size bed!

My daughters also enjoyed the fresh baked cookies and hot chocolate they were able to get anytime of the day or night. Another high point for them was Petie the Parrot and Carl the Camel.

The bird is loud in the morning. The John Deere room has a very comfortable bed and the only bedroom fireplace. Didn't use the Jacuzzi - the water had a sulphur smell. Staff was friendly and helpful. Views were great. Great place for photos of animals, scenery, etc.
Rugs in bedroom looked old and dirty. Place was clean other than the rugs, but our bed skirt was dirty! When told about it, they removed it immediately, but it should never have been overlooked.
Breakfasts were OK, nothing special. We had dinner out. There are a few decent restaurants in Cambridge and Bear's Den in N. Washington.
A man came in and did some business with staff, and by phone. He swore a lot and loud enough to make us go back to our room to read. His attitude was rough. He should have an office and use that instead of the main lounge area (which is quite nice).
Loved the fresh cookies!
Overall value was good because we got 2 nights for the price of one.
There is not much to do around there. Not sure we'll return.

Cute lodge in the middle of nowhere Ohio... Don't believe the Cambridge propaganda strewn about the place. Skip it. Decent enough stay in the off season but this place is uninsulated and very loud... Woke up one morning to the sound of the bird BARKING like a dog and another morning when hillbilly farmer man downstairs got onthe phone to chew out his truck dealer. Staff is friendly enough but seem to lack any serious or formal customer service training. Breakfast is at 9 sharp or it's cold.... And not all that super fantastic anyway so don't feel too bad if you miss it. I got a $99 special on the room... If I had paid full asking price I would not be a happy camper.

We just came back yesterday from Pine Lakes Lodge and our time there was much too short. We enjoyed it's location- we were able to take a break from our busy city lifestyles- and escape into a serene oasis. It was so pleasantly quiet and the staff and guests were beyond exceptional! Michael did a great job showing us around and making us feel as if we were right at home- preparing us meals, making sure there was always a fresh pot of coffee on and cookies ready, full of great, positive energy.

Our room, the John Deere room, had fantastic views of the front property- we were able to enjoy the hammock on our porch and had a nice soak in the whirlpool, followed by a cozy curl up by the fireside. ATV is definitely a must when coming- we were able to view all 550 acres in it's entirety. The animals were a plenty- Leo the dog and Cinnamon the cat were so friendly. Petey the bird stayed pretty quiet, just liked greeting us in the morning. Carl the Camel was a nice surprise as well as some buffalo, cows, white tail deer, and miniature ponies that roamed the property. Our stay was completely rejuvenating and relaxing and we will definitely be back in the near future :)

The lodge exceeded our expectations. Its a fun and relaxing atmosphere with beautiful detailing. The employees treated us like family- they were so nice. The view was also great, but the place took us a while to find. You must type the address into your GPS instead of the name or it will take you to the wrong roads. We definitely want to return. Would recommend!

We were impressed with our first visit over a year ago BUT this time was even better. Check in was a breeze. The room was smaller than the first time but we still had plenty of room. The bathroom was great and featured a Jacuzzi and shower. The view of the countryside and of the many species of animals was breathtaking. Then we had dinner! It was perfectly done for my steak and my wife's seafood and the service was very good. Our night was extremely restful and our breakfast was equally as good as dinner. We met the owner and told him we would definately be back and plan to do so every year.

Room Tip: If stairs are an issue choose the only first floor room.

This was our 3rd time here and it was a great time out 1st time, okay our second, and we couldn't get out of there fast enough this last time.

The actual facilities are very nice and the location is secluded with nice views, but is overshadowed by the service that you don't get.

The overal feel is the facilities should sell its self and customer service is not a priority. The 1st time we went there the check in was wonderful and the lady was so helpful to make sure our stay was nice. The gentleman who checked us in this time was all business and not welcoming like one would expect at a Bed and Breakfast.

One of the biggest things we were looking forward to was sleeping in since this is a rare occurance with work and little ones at home. This was wishful thinking as a staff meeting was taking place in the lobby at 7 am and were very loud. Yellling and cursing took place and it wasn't an isolated incident. This went on until we came downstair for breakfast. It was like we weren't even there. There was no stopping of there heated meeting and no acknowledge that we were passing through. I won't share all that was going on at the meeting, but the overall theme was how to get more people to visit. It was all about them and not on the costumer. Hopefully they will see this and realize that customer service is the core of why they aren't getting many repeat customers.

Pine Lake Lodge is a beautiful place that could be a wonderful retreat if they would just care about their customers.
