“Returning years in a row!”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

My husband and I have stayed at Pine Lakes Lodge twice now and plan to go again as a Christmas present to each other. The Inn is gorgeous, homey, clean, and a true getaway. We live in a city, so to get away and see the stars, live animals, and wide open spaces was a treat. The steak dinner was superb, and the rooms are comfortable. I would highly recommend it!

WONDERFUL TO HEAR!! A peaceful retreat is the perfect Christmas present in my book. :) Thank you so much for the amazing review. We are always happy to hear that our guests are having a great time with us and choose to return. We have added onto our dinner menu and hope you can take advantage of it next time you visit the lodge. :) Happy 2013!!

The food, staff, and view was truly phenomenal. We stayed in the bunkhouse, and were quite pleased with amenities. We enjoyed the guided trail ride, animals on site, and the pond complete with a swan, ducks, and geese. The three course dinner was truly amazing with locally grown ingredients, and made from scratch baked goods and entrees'. Everyone on staff was extremely friendly, helpful and kind. We can't say enough good things about our experience at Pine Lakes Lodge in October 2012.

Room Tip: Bunk house is private, but has nice amenities. We walked back from dinner and it is VERY dark this...

The Bunk House is my absolute favorite cabin :) It is cozy and has plenty of room for a couple wanting to get a way for a day or two. The private hot tub and amazing views add to the cabins charm and appeal. We are so very pleased that you had such a wonderful experience here with us at Pine Lakes Lodge and can’t wait to see you again. :) Thank you for the kind words.

We just returned from the lodge. We had the group on voucher, which was for one night stay and we purchased two of them. When I called to make a reservation they did not have any of the rooms from the voucher available so they said we could use it for one of the cabins. We selected the frontier cabin. This was a horrible experience. There was mouse droppings in all the cabinets and dead bugs everywhere. Dead flies were all over the floors, kitchen counter, furniture and ledges. There were live flies in the cabin, a dead roach in the middle of the floor, and mouse poop in the bed. Disgusting. The shower head was clogged with deposits and many holes did not allow any water out. The toilet was covered in water stains. The staff was apologetic and refunded the additional fee I had to pay to stay in the cabin instead of the room and extended the expectation date of the second voucher. I will try the main lodge again but would not advise anyone to use the cabin. We left a day early and did not get the dinner that was included in the voucher. The views were pretty and grounds looked nice. There is not much to do, but we drove a few miles north to salt fork state park and did some hiking there which was beautiful in the fall.

We are very sorry that the Frontier Cabin was not what you were looking for in your stay with us. The Frontier Cabin is described as our most rustic cabin which dates back to the 1790's; and is nestled in the middle of 550 acres of woods. The Frontier Cabin definitely has its appeal, but not to everyone. Please keep in mind that we do have more upscale rooms in our lodge and less rustic cabins on the property for future visits.

My husband, 2 year old daughter and I just returned from Pine Lakes. We used a Living Social voucher. It was a very good experience. As folks have said, there is not much else to do in the area. However, the lodge is beautiful and we found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. The Buffalo Hills Room was huge and beautifully decorated. Our daughter loved all of the animals including buffalo, cows, horses, donkeys, swans, geese, Petie the Parrot and Leo the Bulldog. The breakfast was buffet style and it was more than enough food. Since the little ones can't get into a hot tub, we didn't get to use the outdoor hot tub...but maybe next time. Overall, I would say it's a beautiful retreat and a relaxing place to stay for a night or 2...especially if you're an animal/nature lover.

Room Tip: Highly suggest Buffalo Hills Room- very spacious and a king bed

We are so happy to be able to help you provide wonderful family memories for you daughter and your family. The animals on the farm are definitely a big hit for the children and adults. The Buffalo Hills Room is a beautiful room and actually it is my personal favorite when it comes to the king room here at the lodge. :) We hope to see you and your family again very soon. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a delightful review.

We had a poor experience at this location. The grounds and the lodge are beautiful, no doubt about that. But that's about all. The owners of this lodge are not present, and they leave others to manage the place and take care of guests. Not a good combination, as there isn't the personnel involvement and touch you find at other B&B's. The dinner and breakfast were bad. As another reviewer wrote, is it too much to expect fresh food in the country? I swear, the sausage we had for breakfast looked and tasted like it came from Denny's. Almost all of the food was cold, and a lot of it tasted like it came out of a bag. Our server threw packets of butter at us and others (honestly, she threw them), and then complained about how early it was (9 a.m.). Really? Then get another job! If you like to drink coffee and tea don't expect much here unless you like to drink out of a styrofoam cup with powdered creamer. Whoever owns this place needs to spend time at real B&B's and see how its done, then return and teach the staff how to serve guests.

Our kids got us the Living Social deal for one night including dinner and breakfast. The lodge is beautiful in a beautiful setting. It sits atop of a ridge where, as they say - on a clear day you can see forever!!! We saw the sun rise and set. Lots of animals - including Leo the bull dog. The Lodge was clean and still looks new after 7 years. The bed was very comfortable. The food tasted homemade. Dinner is in the basement where all guests sit at their own table. I think if they used the 2 big tables on the main floor it would feel like home. The floors and walls are thin so you hear everything!!! Our room had a rotten egg smell from the bathroom whenever you ran the water. We had to keep the door closed!! The plumbing needs some fixing. Not much to do in the area - it is literally in the middle of nothing!! We took some walks and explored the grounds. Found it interesting that only water and coffee was served. OJ with breakfast. If you want soda or liquor - bring your own.

There was not one complaint we had about this property! This was our first time staying there and we had a living social certificate. We were treated like we had paid full price. The views were the most amazing I have seen! Better than we had even expected. We had the John Deere room and will be returning... to that room. It had the largest balcony, a hamock on the balcony and overlooked the front of the property so we could see the buffalo and deer roaming. We got to feed the deer, pet the goats and horses and watch the camels roam in acres of land! We took a nice walk down to the pond to see a lot of fish and wish we had brought our fishing supplies! We did have a jacuzzi tub in our room and loved sitting in there for the end of the evening. Dinner was delicious!! We had the chicken, potatoes and vegatables. The breakfast in the monring was YUMMY!!! it was eggs, potatoes, bacon and pancakes! Delicious! We will definetly be back! Yes, there was a bird in the lobby who was beautiful! He did not squak at all! Just a few times in the morning. But you wouldn't expect the bird to be quiet at all. Since he is an animal!
The doggy even had his own cabin with air conditioninga and loved to be petted.
We will definetly be back and even bought a gift certificate when we left for our parents to go.

Room Tip: We stayed in the John Deere... great room!!!

We love to hear reviews from our guests and are very excited to learn what a great experience you had with us. The John Deere Room is my personal favorite queen room. The balcony is amazing (especially if you can stay during nice weather and enjoy the hammock). :) Leo definitely helps make you feel at home. :) We are looking forward to seeing you guys again and hope to help make the next trip even better than the first. Thank you. :)
