This place was once the jewel of the island. Now she's old, tired, hungover and cranky. Besides that, she cost you too much.
My wife and I have enjoyed the Islander for many, many years but our recent stay may prove to be our last. The room was filthy, the walls had holes in them and the bathroom was falling apart...the staff was disinterested...the smaller swim-up bar on the grounds (the main attraction as far as we're concerned) was closed - without notice...and noisy site-wide maintenance (the type usually reserved for after the complex is closed down) was being performed daily. We felt less like guests as opposed to intruders. All of this took place on Labor Day and the two days after...not as one might suspect, in late-September or October. Despite that, we were charged full rate...which here means the highest prices on the island. So, sorry old girl, but with newer, much more pleasant options such as the BayShore and the PIB Resort offering many of the same amenities at the same price, I'm afraid we're going to have to part ways. Here's hoping you sober up and put a new coat of makeup on sometime real soon.

This place had mold on the shower curtains. All the plugs in the room were worn out. Clock radio would not stay plugged in and could not blow dry hair as it kept pulling out of the plug. Beds were very uncomfortable. Spent a day at the pool and there was cigarette butts floating all over the pool. Put in Bay conference and resort center gives you pool towels, this place does not. Will not stay at this place again.

This "resort" hotel was the biggest disappointment I couldve ever imagined...We were greeted by the most pungent odor of urine that it seemed to burn your nostrils.. like the walls were marinating in urine literally..cobwebs with fist size spiders...the pools looked pretty til you see the discolored murky water it was pure green fog.. we paid 285 .we werent expecting the ritz but this was by far the worst.. i wouldnt even give it credit to be called a motel.. They had no other rooms they said so when we were leaving i mentioned it to them how highly disgusted and disapointed i was ,..there were no sorrys no nothing the lady said i remember walking that room and i didnt think it smelled too bad?!!! TOO BAD?? so she knew damn well it reeked.. but they spoke to us and treated us like we were scum of earth for mentioning and burdoning them... absolute no customer service no resolve and to boot I asked them what total would be charged on my card to hold and they gave me a 109 dollar total and come to find in my bank account they charged me the full amount without reguard.. Im glad i happened to have the money in my account..anywhere would be better than this dump

Was excited to go to Put In Bay, but when reservations made, not told 1 day would be charged. Although it states on Islander Inn website, doesn't say on SOOH or OSMA site. Was specific when made reseravtion that was making reservation on behalf of third party and different card would be used at check in and was not told would be charged 1 day. When called hotel to question policy they confirmed was on their site but not charity's site. Haven't been there yet and this place already SUCKS@!

When other people ask me about my trip, I respond, I was Alice in Wonderland. From the moment, we got on the Miller Ferry in Port Clinton, to Dan the Man's taxi van, to the Islander Inn, to the clubs, to hearing Mustang Sally Band, all I say is perfect! The people, especially the young students the Islander employs are just wonderful and so friendly! There were Jessie and Melissa, the barmaids who told us all about the Islander and their properties and pools and clubs. They became like family! The Islander was beautiful, like it belonged in the Bahamas or tropical island. Our room had a double bed with jacuzzi, very clean, comfortable and fun! The room opened up to the pool, which had a hot tub and swim up bar, too. Down from that pool area, just a short distance was the main Splash pool. They also had a swim up bar, entertainment, dancing in the pool, and a very fun waterfall. And at night, was Level 2. This club was unbelieveable. They played dance music, while the videos were shown on a projector screen. If you venture out from the hotel, go to the Beer Barrel and hear an all woman band, called Mustang Sally!!! They are exceptional!!!! It's now been exactly 2 weeks since I went there. I wish I were there, now. Worth every last penny!

paid 300$ a night to stay in a room that as mentioned before me was less than clean, staff at hotel itself are rude as they can get (no really i hope they don't try any harder to be discourteous, i have never seen resort staff so absolutely unprofessional.)and when several of my group asked the front desk clerk "why is everyone so crabby"we were told that "they are tired of dealing with the island drunks and tourist." so in a nut shell, STAY AWAY FROM ISLANDER INN PLEASE!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Islander Inn is Put-in-Bay's first and largest Caribbean style resort. We have 115 rooms surrounding 4 swimming pools including a large heated pool, conversation pool with a waterfall, 30 person jacuzzi as well as our swim-up-bar pool. The Islander Inn also features the island's original swim-up bar, The Dizzy Lizard. The Dizzy has 9 seats in the water and and seats on land. This is the bar that changed how afternoons were spent on Put in Bay. At the back of our courtyard sits Crash Landings, a bar with an airplane crashed into the top of it. Both of these are open from mid May through mid September, weather permitting. Located between the Islander Inn and our sister hotel, the Grand Islander, sits Put-in-Bay's #1 afternoon hotspot Splash! Splash is the World's Largest Swim-up Bar. We have 97 bar seats in the water and 120 chaise lounge chairs outside of the pool for sunbathing. With live entertainment on the weekends and plenty of other fun during the week, Splash is definitely the place to cool off and have a cold drink with your best friends. Overlooking Splash is The Flaming Skull. The Skull is a full scale pirate ship that sits next to Splash. Guests can walk up on the deck and watch out over the pool while having a drink at the 80 seat bar. Get your picture taken with the captain so your friends will believe you when you say you were on a pirate ship on Put-in-Bay. We are located right in the heart of downtown Put-in-Bay and are within walking distance to most of the major attractions. Should you want to explore the island a little more, we do have golf carts available for rent at our Front Desk with some of the lowest rates on the island. You can rent a cart for a couple hours or go all day if you want. ... more   less
