Well worth the $3.00 to take the elavator to the top. Great view. The indoor exhibits are worth an hour of your time.

You can see everything at the top! And there are maps to help you understand what you're seeing. The officers/rangers there know a lot about the history of the island, including interesting bits about the War of 1812. Fun!

We rented a golf cart after taking the ferry from Catawba. Our favorite attractions were the Peace Memorial, the Crystal Cave at the Winery, and driving throughout the waterfront neighborhoods.

I had not been to Perry's Monument since I was a little kid, and I remember it being boring, but I truly enjoyed it as an adult. Not somewhere that you need so spend a long time at, but when you get to the top of the monument the view is really cool. I would also recommend going to the visitor center first before going to the monument.

worth the stop. didn't go up inside (long lines) but really enjoyed the actor playing a soldier who gave the history of the memorial and shot off a musket!
