Good food and pleasant atmosphere....nice variety of Irish meals. Popular hangout with the locals and the Guinness was cold.

Shepherd pie was great. Cheese appetizer a must have.
Perch was delicious although the steak was dry.

Enjoying a weekend with friends at Port Clinton and Put-In-Bay's Pirate Festival. Ate dinner at McCarthy's last night. Lots of authentic Irish food. Everyone likes what they had. Soda bread with marmalade butter was great! Scotch eggs were interesting. Irish stew was huge. I like it less soupy and a little thicker, but good flavor. Good selection of drafts.

We stop at McCarthy's every time we are in Port Clinton, Ohio. The food is good and plentiful, but we especially like their soup. My favorite winter meal is a grilled cheese sandwich and McCarthy's tomato basil soup. the Irish stew is very tasty - the small size order is more than enough. We've also enjoyed their fish sandwich - fresh and good tasting. All kinds of Irish beer on tap. It's worth the trip for the beer, even if you don't sample a few menu items.

I am a local, and frequent this restaurant all year. I recommend the warm pita chips with dip as an appetizer! The perch wrap is absolutely delicious. I also appreciate that they carry PBR. The staff is very friendly.
