We stayed 2 nights here upon the suggestion of some birding friends who have been there before. Prices were a bit higher than expected, but everything was fine, in my opinion. It was clean, well lit and the front staff was nice and helpful when we needed them. Breakfast was a bit on the light side, but it was at least something to get our day started. The room was nice but the bathroom was small. All of our groups toilets flushed very slowly. Had a trickling shower head, but the water was hot and was sufficient. We didn't eat at the restaurant at the hotel, but considered the one across the street, but didn't visit it either.

Located across the street from Lake Erie, the Commodore offers excellent food, great service and top notch entertainment! Attached to the hotel is "Mr Ed's", a fun club that has great bands. In the summer you can walk across the street to Docks Beachside, a favorite summer visit on the North Coast. Always fun at either! Nearby is the Jet Express to the Islands!

These people don't advertise the fact that an attached techno bar at the south send if the hotel will keep their guests up until 2:00 am with loud techno music. Go to hell. I will never stay here again. Horrible

This hotel is in a great location. Right accross the street from the Lake. Additionally, it is only a short walk to the Jet Express. The hotel itself was a bit dated in terms of decor. However it WAS CLEAN. The rooms have a microwave, small fridge and hair dryer. Good space in te room and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. Shower and bathroom were clean. Dial and Tone soap in the rooms (love this). The lobby is sparse and has just the check in desk. A cold Continental breakfast was included in your stay and was located away from the main lobby. The hotel had an indoor pool which looked clean. There is one elevator that is rather slow. There is a bar/eaterie on site. We did happen in after returing from Put In Bay and were told that they only serve hoagies and pizza after 10 pm. However they only had pizza available when we stopped in. We went elsewhere. There is also a beach bar accross the street and fronting the Lake-looked nice, but di not stop in. There is a Wendys and a Subway within a 5 minute drive and about a 10 minute walk of this place. We will visit again.

Room Tip: Rquuest a room as far from the drawbridge as you can. You can hear the warning of the bridge raisin...

We booked this hotel chiefly to be within walking distance of the Jet Express. Our room, which was a non-lake view room, came to roughly $194/night WITH taxes. It is $20 more, I believe, to face the lake, which also means you're facing the parking lot. The room, # 316, was near the elevators/ice machine, and faced a corrugated tin building. However....the room was very clean and large-ish, and I liked that the shower stall had lots of shelves to put shampoo and whatnot on (we had 4 adults in the room, so this was a nice feature). The room included a microwave, fridge, and a safe. We had a snorer in the room, so I wore earplugs at night and therefore didn't hear a thing - I would highly recommend earplugs for ANY hotel you stay at, really. One odd thing - our key cards kept de-magnitizing, even though we weren't putting them any closer to cell phones and such than we usually do. We ate at Mr. Eds (connected to the hotel) , which had decent food and service. We also had access to a nice beachfront area via the Beachfront Resort across the street.
Now some drawbacks - as others have mentioned, the breakfast options were limited. Sweet cereals, sweet rolls, bagels, and oatmeal packets. The coffee was pretty weak, also. We went to McDonalds the first morning (just down the road a bit) and the A La Carte Cafe the second morning (downtown, and sooo good that I'll give it it's own review). The pool was okay, but a bit careworn , and there was no whirlpool that I could see. Parking was also at a premium (guests DO get parking passes - I guess to prevent Jet Express riders from parking in the lot).
Overall, this was a good place to stay mainly for it's location - short walk to the ferry and to restaurants/bars downtown. For the cost, though, I might consider Fremont next time (about 20 min. away via Route 53).

Dear kelivonia,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us at the Commodore Perry Inn. We appreciate your patronage and welcome your comments, as we continually strive to improve our facility and services.
Upgrades to a room facing the Northeast (or, lake view, partially angled) are only $10+tax additional, and the upgrade charge is only between May 1-November 1, for future reference. Approximately 40% of our inventory have this option.
We apologize you experienced trouble with your elctronic keycards. We have since performed a total inventory cleaning on all the lock card readers, which it appears has corrected the problem you encountered with this particular room.
The breakfast we offer, which is complimentary to all our hotel & motel guests, is a COLD CONTINENTAL breakfast. It is self serve, and not a made to order, hot breakfast. We do not advertise this complimentary amenity as anything but what it is. Offering a more expanded breakfast, incuding hot items, would result in higher room rates, which we choose not to pursue. This limited type of breakfast offer has met the needs of the majority of our guests since we opened our property.
As for the "cost" of the hotel room, our room rates are competitively priced within the immediate Port Clinton hotel/motel market. Weekends in the summer, which is when you stayed with us, are definitely our highest rates, based on supply and demand factors. We offer deeply discounted rates on weekdays, as well as weekends throughout the spring, fall and winter months. Our peak season, as well as all hotels/motels in Port Clinton, is May 1-September 2. Rates at hotels & motels away from the lake are understandably lower than this area during the summer.
We hope to see you on your next visit to the area!

The staff at this hotel was really friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, quiet and the beds comfortable. The pool temperature was great and it was clean. The location is great - close enough to walk to the jet express ferry boat and the drawbridge - which is where we watched the 4th of July Fireworks show. The price is very reasonable and you have use of a private beach across the street with an awesome view. The breakfast left something to be desired so don't go there expecting any kind of great breakfast. Hot coffee and a bagel or bowl of cereal will have to do. The lake view rooms have an angled view which was very nice.

Stayed here earlier this month for five nights with a hint of apprehension given the bad reviews on here. I have family living in Port Clinton and they checked it out prior to my arrival with good reports. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very clean and tidy room, as were the communal areas/lift, including the gym and pool in which I had an enjoyable swim. The mattresses appeared to be new and no sign of any bed bugs anywhere whatsoever. Some of the complimentary breakfast items were not my personal ideal choice, being sweet, sugary cereals and choc bagels, but good coffee. I got my own bread from the store and toasted this myself. Even took my breakfast to the room via the lift and had breakfast in bed one day. Good coffee provided for the room, fridge storage facility and microwave (didn't use). Cleaner missed a couple of items in the room like forgetting to put a fresh pack of coffee in, but nothing major at all.

Have always liked Mr Ed's and been there a few times over the years, arrived back from the winery one evening to find the place bouncing with music and folk - great atmosphere - our room was at the other end and once there couldn't hear any noise so best of both worlds.

This place satisfied our needs for a place to stay convenient to family and what Port Clinton has to offer
