“Fried, fried and more fried.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2010

O.k. folks, If ya love fried food this is for you. I have to say the perch or walleye are good.
Not the very best I've had, but still pretty good. The rest of the fried sides leave a lot to be desired. Onion rings o.k. Cole slaw is pretty good. But if you're trying to eat healthy, this is not the place for you. A definite splurge here. Sure would like to see them add some healthier sides. A steamed veggie or sweet corn. A tossed salad even.
I still think it is a little pricey here for no service and fried everything!

“Yum! Best Walleye and Perch Sandwiches on Lake Erie”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2010

Jolly Roger has the tastiest hand-breaded fried fish I have ever had. The corn-meal breading is light and flaky and the tarter sauce absolutely complements the fish. The waffle fries are not over cooked or too salty, just right. If you like fried mushrooms, they have the same crispy breading as the fish and are to die for. And for a splurge, even if it is not Lake Erie seafood, the oysters are wonderful. The staff is pleasant and on top of things in this quaint, busy little fish house. The only complaint I have is that they close in December for 2 months!

“Don't believe the hype”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2010

We had to try Lake Erie's Finest Seafood and one of the Top 25 Seafood Dives in America while we were in the Sandusky area. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The fish was bland, the chicken sandwich pretty ordinary and the waffle fries, although abundant, were cold and tasteless. I will say that the slaw and hush puppies were both some of the best I've had! Oh yah, the peel and eat shrimp were said to be pretty plain with the exception of the two with giant black spots that were inedible.

Great food, great atmosphere, good prices. In warm weather be prrepared for a slight wait to get a table but the wait is definately worth it.

“terrible”

How could everything be fried? No other options. Fried seafood is nothing but junk food. I went there based on the others' reviews but it turned out to be a real disappointment.
