It's not often you discover a NEW restaurant with all the attributes in place for a rave review. Brandy's Steakhouse at 2590 Sand Road, Port Clinton (Catawba Island), Ohio makes the grade. With years of boating and residency in this area, we are always on the lookout for top notch restaurants with fine dining -they are few and far between (literally). Brandy's has all the right 'stuff' in place for an evening of leisurely quiet conversation (even in a full house), well prepared adult beverages at a handsome, inviting bar, warm, efficient service and outstanding menu selections created by chef Lance Brandenburg (along with chef Cooper Basiletti) whose years of experience come shining through. Let's get specific: we chose appetizers, soup and salad for dinner which included Lobster Bacall (a lovely delectable small plate on its own), and Brandy Jet, a to-die-for creation including shrimp and escargot in a perfect accompaniment of brandied butter sauce; rich and flavorful crab chowder (a bowl IS a meal!); and classic Caesar salad (for the serious Caesar fan, anchovies available), just the right size as a side (entree available, simple or add grilled salmon, shrimp or chicken). What this little gem needs right now is lots of publicity - the faithful following will come. BTW, the beef selections are of great and imaginative variety.
