“Great for a family reunion but facilities need an upgrade”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

The state park is located in a very beautiful part of Ohio but in the middle of nowhere. The lodge was built in the 1970s and it does not look like they changed anything since then. Our family had fun playing ping pong, shuffle board, basket ball, tennis, etc. It was great to sit by one of the fire pits in the evening talking with family. The restaurant was not bad and all the staff were very nice. I am not sure there is good value for the dollar but we did have fun and enjoyed our visit. They really should upgrade the rooms, the sinks are tiny and the décor looks like that 70s show.

Mohican Lodge is located just outside of Mansfield, Ohio, in the middle of nowhere. When my boyfriend and I walked into the lodge, we were immediatley struck by the beauty of it. It has that "old" feel to it. There were chairs and tables, a fireplace to sit by, and views that were almost breath taking. What was cute is that they had a place where travelers can leave their "read" books for others to read. The bar is located on the bottom floor and offered a pretty decent selection of spirits. There are 2 pools indoor/outdoor.

The rooms were pretty spacious, clean and equipted with a flat screen, fridge, and table. The beds were very comfortable too. The bathroom was just like any other hotel's.

There were a few downfalls to this place: NO, and I mean, NO cellphone reception (unless you had Verizon), the walls and ceiling are thin, meaning that you could hear above and beside you. I also wished the restaurant they had served breakfast a little longer (they stop at 10:30). Their breakfast buffet was pretty good. Oh, and no hot tub.

Other than that, the place was awesome. The setting is beautiful for even a weekend getaway.

We just spent a couple of days at Mohican Lodge and my husband loved it. We have stayed at several of the state parks but this one was the quietest sleep we have had (no slamming doors, etc.) and by far the most comfortable beds we have slept in. We ate dinner there one night and it was really good and the portions were huge! I had the steak which was cooked exactly like I ordered it (med. rare), baked potato, salad and fresh vegetables of the day. My husband had the fried green bean appetizers and he could have made a meal out of them there were so many plus he had the Asian salad with chopped chicken and noodles with an Asian dressing and he said it was really good! The breakfast we had the next morning was also very good and they did a nice looking breakfast buffet being offered, too. We had a couple of drinks before dinner out on the patio overlooking the lake and it was beautiful sitting there looking down on all the boats going by. We hiked a few of the trails, sat by the fire and talked and it was just a really nice and relaxing trip

Thank you for taking the time to review Mohican. I am glad that you enjoyed your time on our patio. It is a great place to relax and take in the sunset! I also have to tell you that the fried green beans are my favorite item on the menu and there is always enough to share! We look forward to your next visit!

Loved the facility, back to basics family time. Outdoor trails, shuffle board, checkers, and the restaurant service was fantastic. Roma was our waitress was so fun and great! Pizza was good, views from patio were incredible. Fire pit smokes were a hit with the kids too!

Room Tip: We asked for park/lake view top floor. It was great, but it was also the farthest away from the fac...

We stayed here for 1 night and wished we could have stayed for a week! The lodge is gorgeous, well maintained and clean. I thought the room was a tad pricey but it was very nice. We enjoyed the private deck overlooking the walking path. The pools were all nice and clean. There are some amazing view of the lake from the walking paths around the lodge, so be sure to take advantage of that. We did eat breakfast at the dining room, we thought the prices were fair for what you got. My only complaint was that the food was only luke warm. Overall, we were really happy with our experience and wouldn't hesitate to go back!

We love the lodge, and have on multiple trips: some with kids, some just as a couple, some with relatives. The indoor and outdoor pools are great, we've always liked the food, and the staff has always been very friendly. You can always find a 'nook' in the lodge to read a good book overlooking the forest. The park trails are nice. Our five-dot review does not mean it's a five-star resort -- it never claims to be. It's just a pleasant way to unwind without 'roughing it' too much.

Room Tip: We asked for a room overlooking the woods, and they put us on the second floor in Building C facing...

Wonderful place to go for a quick "escape"...you feel like you are a million miles away, but in fact can only be a couple hours away from home (like we were). The scenery is peaceful and relaxing. There is enough to do just at the resort for a day or two so you don't feel the need to rush around. However, there is a lot to do around the area as well!! If you choose to just hang out and relax at the resort like we do, the outdoor pool (when they have the pool water warm) is a great place to be! With the view of the lake, the woods and the lodge, it is almost like being on a major trip to a "fancy expensive" resort, without the exuberant price. If it is raining, or cool, the inside pool serves well too. Plus the sauna is a wonderful place to detox and de-stress. Shuffle board and an outdoor fire pit for roasting s'mores (bring your own stuff though, and hotdogs too!) makes for a delightful evening. And a place to make some new friends. Raining? There is a ping-pong "table" inside and ; pay-to-play billiard, a game room and a small exercise room. Or just grab a game or cards and play beside the indoor firepit. Or sit in a comfy chair throughtout the lodge and read or just sit and watch. This resort offers a lot of space to decompress and
clear the mind of daily life. It recharges you to go back to "reality". I forgot to mention, the staff does their best to meet all your needs.

Room Tip: The standard room is just fine for a family of four. If you would like a bit more space though, the...
