We did the full trip from Akron to Rocky Road and back with a stop in Peninsula. They have a Club Cafe with sandwiches from a local deli, chips, veggies, soft drinks, wine and beer. For $5 you can upgrade to First Class (bigger seats with more leg room) or for $10 more you can upgrade to the Dome Car (glass top with bigger views). You have the choice of free head phones that will narrate the history of the Ohio Erie Canal and Towpath that has a built in GPS that will point out things out the window as you pass them. We saw heron nests, bald eagles, horses, many birds, and beautiful scenery. This is a great attraction for singles, couples, and families. We did pay for the dome car upgrade but the sun was so hot that we ended up moving down to first class for the 2nd half of the trip. Thus you will want to consider the weather before choosing the Dome Car.

“Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

I agree that the actual experience of being on the train is not as thrilling as seeing it pull up to the station. The real appeal of the railroad is the very reasonable cost to board your bike to ride to Pennisula or other great stops along the way. I am lobbying hard for the train to make it all the way to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. This would really open the National Park to an amazing boost in family use. It is happening now. But, could happen so much sooner.

“Great place to visit”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Great place for all ages. Walk, bike, or take the train. Very easy or hard, which ever you prefer. Clean, trails are well groomed, trails are wide. Wildlife is abundant. Visitor's centers are clean and staff is very helpful. We rode our bikes from Brecksville to Pennisula and then hopped the train back to Brecksville. Very close to freeways and hotels and restaurants.

“Went in July, EXTREMELY HOT, no AC or windows!”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

We actually went in July several years ago, but I forgot to leave a review. We're from Oregon and went on this train when it was about 100 F outside. The train section we sat in had NO AC (don't know if they finally added AC to all sections?) and the windows on the train didn't open either (don't know if you can open them now)? I would NOT take this train when it is warm outside.

“All A-Bored!”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Bought tickets 45 min prior to boarding the 11 am train departing from Rockside Station. Tickets were $12 each for coach (cheapest) seating and you sit 4 people facing each other, knees touching, unless you buy the more expensive seats. Even though we were one of the first to get on the train, nobody told us that one of the car's air conditioning wasn't working (lucky us to pick it) and so we rode to Peninsula in a rather stuffy train car on a hot day. Children will like this train ride; adults....not so sure. Sit on the east side of the train for better views, though it was rather boring regardless; however a nice way to pass a few hours time. We decided to stay in Peninsula for the 3-hr layover. In Peninsula, we ate at the Winking Lizard (decent food, very popular). Then we strolled around the town but there really wasn't much to see or do (1 gift shop was closed) and waited for our train to pick us up and return to Rockside. All the staff (from ticket sellers to engineer) are volunteers so that was impressive.
